24 inch wheels on the x5, doable with a widebody?
Hey guys - I am new to the site and we bought got a 2020 x5 4.0 m pkg.
So we will be the first in the US to put the renegade widebody kit on a G05 x5. My question to you all is would 24's fit or should we stick to 22's. I have seen 24's on an x5 here: https://www.1221wheels.com/1195-bmw-...2x-apex-wheel/ but I have yet to see any 24's in the wheel gallery for members x5's. I am not sure how it would look. Anyone here have 24's or is anyone on air suspension? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks! - Haris |

Congrats on the new ride and looking forward to see pics of your mods.
Technically you've purchased a 2020 X5 xDrive40i which is a B58B30M1 3.0L I6 turbo I've seen a cracked ALPINA XB7 23" which would make any owner cry. You'd be the first with 24" and majority of forum members are running OEM sizes with 22" as the largest - given road conditions. You won't see many X5/6/7 extensive discussion of or mods in the forum. There's only a handful of forum members who do and actively post and you'll see their posts in the Photos, Videos, Build Journals - https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=745

I wouldn’t say the first but if you wanted 24s you should have gotten an Escalade.

In a perfect world, 24" wheels on an X5 might work. There's almost no sidewall on the thing with that wheel. People with 22" have more cracked wheels and damaged tires than people with smaller rims.
Keep in mind that tires are considered in the equation when calibrating the suspension, and 24" wheels were not in that equation. The first pothole at any speed, and you'll likely be buying new wheel(s) or tire(s). If you're only driving it on a smooth track, probably fine. I don't think there's an easy way to change the speedometer and odometer calibration if you wanted to go with a larger tire to keep the sidewall height reasonable, nor is there probably room if you went with a taller tire. |

We just took possession of our 2021 AG x5. Looking at replacing the wheels. Please post a pic if you go with 24’s.

I think 22's are the appropriate plus sized rims for the X5.

A 24" rim, if you keep the OD of the assembly the same, is little more than a rubber band on the rim. Keeping the aspect ratio higher, means making the whole assembly have a bigger OD, and that will change the speedometer and the gearing. Done correctly, the OD remains the same, regardless of the rim size by changing the aspect ratio of the tire.
Good luck... |
