BMW purples of the past (source: here):

E36 M3: "Daytona Violet Metallic" (Sep 1993 - Jan 1996 and Apr 1997 - Dec 1997) got replaced by "Techno Violet Metallic" (Sep 1995 - Aug 1999) when BMW replaced the 3.0-liter engine (S50 B30) with the 3.2-liter version (S50 B32):

"Techno Violet Metallic" - BMW paint code 299:

New purple introduced for the G42 2er due to presented later this week:
"Thundernight Metallic" - BMW paint code C56:

Close to purple perfection. Still prefer the M5 Competition Purple Silk, but this is a close damn second. Gorgeous!
