The first sign was the fact that when patients were asked to return their study medications because the drop in BP was below target, they refused to comply. After asking a few non-compliant study participants (with regard to returning the medication) why not...the "adverse event" was uncovered (so to speak). When they unveiled this some of the more tender lambs from the south, turned beet red and the, at first giggling then transforming to people dying on the floor laughing. And the videotaped practice sessions, if found, could be a made into a comedic movie!!

Good times!!

My mother passed away last night. It wasn't unexpected. She'd been suffering from Alzheimer's for years and took a big turn for the worse about a month ago. She's going to be buried with my father in the military cemetery in Bourne, MA, so we have to get to MA for the service and burial. We had flights out of O'Hare tomorrow, but of course the only major winter storm this season is going to hit there starting tomorrow. We've been changing flights and hotels and rental cars all day because the forecast keeps changing. We changed our planned Tuesday flight to Wednesday, but now they say the worst of the storm will hit on Wednesday. So now we need to drive up tomorrow (3+ hours) when it will be mostly rain and grab a hotel near the airport so we can be there for the flight out on Wednesday.

Shit like this used to roll off my back when I was in the Army and dealing with stress every day. Of course I was much younger then and much more fit, but geez, I'm not the adrenaline junkie I used to be. Real stress is so rare in my life now that it slams me hard when it does show up. All part of getting older, I guess.

As an aside, if you ever want to plan a winter getaway, ask me to pick a weekend and then choose any other weekend besides the one I pick. We *never* have traveled during the winter months without some sort of weather delay. It's a curse.

Another Old Fart issue. I've been having serious dizzy spells lately. They've started to clear up in the last day or two, but I went to my doc today anyway and he says I've been suffering from Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV). And yes, it's an Old Fart malady. Crystals form in your inner ear and when they move around, your world spins violently. One such attack on Monday put me on the floor for 20 minutes. It is not a fun feeling. Luckily it does slowly clear up and I'm almost back to normal. But what a nasty experience. Hopefully this doesn't become "a thing" with me. I could do without this.

That sucks - sorry to hear. Be careful with it and sit down immediately if you start to feel it. I have a buddy with vertigo, who fell while out to dinner with his wife and friends. Broke his jaw and messed up a bunch of teeth. He has recovered but wasn't pleasant to go through it, or the recovery / procedures to fix everything.

Yikes. Luckily I was in my home office with a carpeted floor and I was already bent over, so it wasn't a big fall. Still, I'd hate to have this happen while I'm out riding.

Hope you feel better soon. I had some kind of virus years back that screwed with my equilibrium - not fun.

And - You know you're old when you have posted in the Old Farts thread but forgot it existed so you start a new thread called You Know You're Old When.

I remember going to the ENT for some ear canal cleaning (with a rotary drill) He said he was going to put some drops in my ear and I might get dizzy.
"I don't have any problem with WHOOOAHH" Good thing I was already in a chair.

Having that sort of thing happen on the random would suck. Thanks, Mark, I'm sure my hypochondria will kick in any moment.

Firstly, I'm so sorry about your mom. I missed that. My condolences.

Secondly, sorry about the malady. But remember the alternative. You're still alive and kicking...
