I plan to place an order for an x6 shortly. I have talked to a local dealership and the salesperson was explaining the allocation system. At that time she said there were 3 people on their list and it would likely be a few months before they received an allocation that I could get. From that point it would then have to go into production, so another 6-8 weeks?

So my question is … should I be calling around to other dealerships to see if I could get a better time slot with them? There are only two dealerships in the Minneapolis area and they are both quite large. Would I be better off looking in another state? I would be willing to drive 1-2 states over in any direction but not much further than that.

Maybe this timeframe is just typical with the x6 and I shouldn’t waste my time calling around? I am not in a huge rush and am willing to wait a bit but it seems like 4-6 months is an awfully long time, especially if there is a better alternative.

For reference, I will be ordering the 40i in black or silver with the creamy leather interior with pretty much all the add on packages added in. I plan to pay cash, so no financing or leasing.

Welcome to the forum. I would think it will be worth your time to check around in nearby states not only from an allocation point of view but also for pricing.

Just find a broker on Leasehackr and have them find you an allocation. Their pricing is probably more aggressive than what you can negotiate yourself, anyways.

Depending on which dealership the vehicle is ordered from, shipping the car from the dealer to your car will be anywhere from $100 to $400.

If your sale person or sales manager had any sense, they'd be calling around for you and trading allocations so they could help you and keep your business. That's what mine did this past December. Absent that, you can filter your search on CarGurus, https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/new/se...startYear=2024

She did mention that no other dealers will trade allocations because they are so hard to come by for the x6 and everyone holds tight to them. Not entirely sure if this is a Minnesota issue or that she simply doesn’t want to spend the time. She kept pushing us towards the x5 (which appears to be readily available) but we simply are not interested in the x5.

I will look into this. I was under the impression that leasehackr was just for leasing, which we don’t plan to do. Is that not the case?

It’s not. They just like to give lease numbers.
MSRP off applies to all types of financing as well.

I got my ‘24 m60i with the very first batch of allocations last year for 4% off MSRP + $350 broker fee + $125 for at home delivery as a 3 year finance. All 4 local dealerships in North NJ wanted $5-$15k above MSRP at the time.

Good to know. I will definitely look into this. I don’t expect our local dealership is up charging but also don’t expect that I will get a discount off sticker. I won’t pay an upcharge on any car, so that would definitely be an instant deal breaker.

Thanks for the insight!

On lease hackr. Northeast region, x6s are 8% off msrp pre incentives. If this is not the case for Minnesota then get one from here and have it shipped. Don’t pay msrp please.

Wow! Really? I have heard they are much more common in the northeast than here in Minnesota. Here it’s impossible to find one without jumping through hoops and it is fairly rare to see one on the roads.

Thank you for the info. I am definitely looking into this.

You will have to build still. They are not readily available on the lot. But you should get both a sooner allocation and also this discount. Win win.

I don’t mind waiting for a build … just rather not wait 6 months! 😆

Thank you Mattl0806 Yankees9 LDT !!

The 2025 allocation for April is really really low so our dealer are discounting 6% off for in state and 5% for out of region x6 40 and M60 deals.

I did a search just now for you mwars and Motorwerks and Park Place BMW have 1 slot each. Maybe you can call them if you haven't already to work out a deal shooting for 3-4% off on a cash deal.

If you strike out with them, please feel free to PM/email/call me and I'll help you do an expanded search even if you don't use our services.

Thank you!
