2024 X5 - Tow Hitch Bumper Replacement

Recently purchased 2024 X5 that came with tow hitch. I have no use for it and cosmetically, it's horrendous. What are my options?? If I remove the tow hitch do I have to install a different rear bumper support part? Can I remove the tow hitch and easily install another OEM bumper or aftermarket rear diffuser?

Any help and insight is much appreciated!!

They practically didn’t sell oem hitches during covid because of supply shortages. And BMW won’t retrofit one.

show that precious option off

‘In the eye of the beholder’ they say.

I think my OEM hitch is tastefully minimalist and ads another layer of functionality to my xDrive.

I think you can just get a piece of the bumper for the non-tow hitch model and replace the existing one, but you'd have to double check. They are held by a handful of screws underneath and 2 rivets. I have one form an X-line(silver) non M-sport that I'd be willing to sell. It's a part number 5 in the attached diagram.

You probably want to make sure the tow hitch will clear the cover. Feel free to PM me.

Here are two pictures of mine currently.
What is the best color choice for black vs. body color?
Which section would you paint body color, black?
Thank you.

Paint the silver defuser the same color as the body color. Mine, for example, is Arctic Gray. Painted mine today and it looks ten times better than the silver. Now, going down the road, my X5 doesn't look like it's wearing a diaper.

That's a very nice alternative too!

MrChips,
I like your idea.
Anyone else have pictures, ideas on how to sport up the rear number color scheme?
Seems like that black throws me and off.
Thanks.

I just noticed that M sport package has different rear bumper too . I know that the front is different but didn’t know rear is different too than standard rear bumper. That's how M sport package bumper looks with towing package

Yes, correct. That is in my list.
If anyone wants the trailer hitch from my 2024 X5 (came installed with it) let me know. Most likely uninstall the BMW trailer hitch and wiring harness, and get the M style rear bumper (just the outer layer of ABS plastic and have it painted the body color).

Anyone know the part number for the lower rear bumper section on a 2019 X5 that has the cutout for the OEM hitch? I can find the tow hitch but not the insert.

Looks like it's 51127495553, you can double check with the dealer.
