Satin Roof Rail Removal Instructions
Posting this question here.
Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the satin roof rails on the 2024 X5? Has anyone done this? Want to get them powder coated black. Thanks. |

It is a big job. You need to get into headliner, unbolt from inside. There is an member here with a 50i that doesn’t have rail from factory. He wants to put them in. Do a search.

I removed and reinstalled the roof rails on my F25 X3 and It looks like the X5 is similar. Each rail is held on with 3 hex nuts. You do have to remove a bunch of trim and drop the headliner.
Here's a link to how to do this in the X3 to get some idea of what's involved. And newtis.info has a detailed instruction for removing/replacing the X5 roof rails. I think you can still create an account and get to the instructions. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...rip/1VncxZXvfB |

Eelnoraa,
Thank you very much. If that is the case, and the only way to remove the roof rails are from the inside, I understand now why there are YouTubes on vinyl wrapping and/or Plastidip the roof rails. I will most likely go the route of vinyl wrapping. Thank you very much. |

Hi DaleWA,
Thank you very much for the video link. I will go with plan B, vinyl wrapping. For some reason I thought you can access the roof rail mount points from the roof rail itself (from the outside), but sounds like that’s not possible. |
