X5 won't sense me coming or going

OK gang, need help. All of a sudden, as of this afternoon (worked fine this morning), my 2023 G05 doesn't sense me walking to it nor walking away from it. Takes a FOB button push to both lock and unlock (won't even unlock when I grab the handle). Since Day 1 almost two months ago it has sensed me coming and unlocked, and locked back up as I walked away. Now it won't, and I've tested both FOBs. Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance!

Try restarting iDrive, that may bring it back.

Tried that - no effect. Also changed the FOB battery - no effect.

Comfort access settings checked on as they should be.

Have you been driving it less or anything. Comfort access will shut down if the battery is low/not driven for awhile. My M340i did that last week since I was driving the X5 for a week or so due to the weather. Took a couple of days of driving before comfort access started working again.

Ah, HA - you might be on to something there Turtleboy! I haven't been driving any less (several times every day), BUT I run the music for a while with the engine off while I await my daughter when I pick her up from school. Let take a drive tonight and charge it up a bit.

Thanks!

Keep in mind they (40i, M50i, not sure how the 45e charges the 12v) use brake energy regeneration so it will only engage the alternator when you are coasting or braking unless your battery is under 60% or so. Maybe just do your normal driving for awhile and see if it comes back.

Is that feature code able? So nonsensical to me. I can't imagine any legitimate reason to not ALWAYS have the alternator running in the cold of January in the northeast of the US.

No it is not. BMW has been using it since 2008 to improve gas mileage.

Long time for such a silly design philosophy to survive.

Well I think the theory about the low battery still has potential, but it wasn't solved by a 110 mile ride tonight in ECO PRO mode. Here's hoping it doesn't take too much longer to come to full charge!

Thank you for your help!
