I don't think it'll be 50i quick but I'd also like to see that

It isn't really "drag" season at any of the tracks, not that I know any of them that are still open. I think OKC has one, or had. Not sure about the Dallas area either.
12.x is a solid number for such a massive vehicle, I think some would be surprised. |

As a point of reference on how fast the 50i M-Sport is in real world performance, look at how long and how many runs it took a Hellcat to get to 4.3 seconds 0-60mph. After countless 4.6-4.8 second runs, it lucked into 4.3 seconds on one run after a day of trying. Note they are using onboard timing and not a impartial system like Draggy for timing.
How about a Z51 Stingray struggling to get below 5 seconds 0-60mph. Not even GM’s own driver could do it. Corvette Grand Sport with Pro driver 5.17 seconds 0-60mph. Go to 2:08 Shelby GT350R. Struggled to get under 5 seconds and best time was 4.53 seconds 0-60mph. The take away is what certain manufactures publish as performance times and what extreme lengths they went to get it. (like removing the entire interior and using drag tires. Non production floor engines and transmissions that were heavily massaged for optimum performance.). Many know this has gone on for years but the difference is today the average owner has access to cheap and accurate timing equipment to verify the real world performance. Think of it as a “ Lie detector” for manufactures claims. Last edited by MystroX5; 03-19-2019 at 10:22 AM.. |

This is where my reality is met with the need to own a faster SUV like the X5M. My dealer has suggested hp numbers close to 800hp on the X5M. That will be enough to be the fastest at any price point SUV.
My reality in not needing more power was never so true than on i95 at 80mph and a new Mustang GT was riding my butt. I put it in ”Sport” and mashed the go pedal and humiliated it. Not just pull away but leap ahead. He tried to jump with me but fell back almost 3 car lengths at 100mph. Last edited by MystroX5; 03-19-2019 at 11:22 AM.. |

I question how much faster a SUV is going to go. Balance and comfort is a large element in a performance SUV, unlike a full on track car where it can give up comfort and ride. The X5M might not need to have more than 650hp to be the fastest. Transmission and how it implements the power seems to be more important.
