It is on the high side but I'm sure the owner is proud of it and all.

45k even...good deal if all checked out.

My new top-vote goes to the 355. Right around your price, supposedly excellent to drive, and would put a bigger smile on my face than possibly any other <$60k car.

..and another thing.

His pop has probably served his time working hard and dealing with rug rats etc.
Picking a Ferrari key out of the dish, opening the garage door, sitting down, turning the key and bringing the horse to life..
Priceless and special.
No offence but I don't think I would get that rush from a kit cobra. That's just me though.

don't bother with the 355. A few friend have had it and it was a horrible car to own. With the amount you'll spend on maintenance (if you drive even a decent amount of miles) you can just go get the 360. Save a little more and get the 360 if you really want a F car

Just a grain of perception here is that he could buy whatever without needing to save.
It's more in line with a set fiscal budget I would think.

Hold out for a Mac F1. Mr Bean can probably help.

993 CS. rare, not too old, looks epic, FACTORY WIDEBODY, sounds awesome, and can be had in the 50k range. a true connoisseur's car... looks like a normal 993 to a layman, but enthusiasts will recognize it immediately!

...and lets not forget about the sound the doors make! oh god!

Sorry, dad isn't driving 335 on days off from his 750i, lol.

An old Ferrari would be a little too much attention. Granted we want something cool and appreciated by most, but we don't want to be screaming.

Exige is awesome, but too hardcore. I suggested one only because I want one.

I think the 993 is the way. I did however find a cool 1960's Lotus 7, detomaso mangusta, Benz 190sl, jag xk-e vert and a couple others from the 60's. Maybe that will give you all an idea of where I'm going with this. Porsche 356 would be ideal but a clean and restored example are more than we want to spend.

It's not about saving at this point in life, but more about what an appropriate anount of money would be to spend on this type of car. Like I said, we were going to get on the list for the new 911, but all it will bring is speeding tickets.

Without question; Aston Martin V8 Vantage. New or old. Old preferred.

A 2002-later NSX? They are something special and it's around 50k right now.

I love the Pagoda 280SL's, only thing is it may be a bit girly in the U.S.

I loved my SLK55, and I got that for $35k, plenty of character and pretty bulletproof. Hell you could even get an SL55 at $50k, but with the air suspension and supercharger it is a bit more prone to high maintenance costs.

Coming from someone with a classic toy car, they are great in theory but the cost far surpasses the benefit. Espcially in CT. You won't drive it in the winter, with no A/C it will be too hot in the summer, so you'll probably drive it for 3 months out of the year.
The only reason we still have our classic, a 1978 Corvette, is because my dad got it brand new when he turned 18 and my parents are high school sweethearts and my mom was with him when he picked it up. Otherwise that thing would be gone and the garage space freed for one of the other 5 cars.

A red and tan Ferrari is not in any way subtle.
Love the 993. Probably the best looking and overall 911 ever IMO.
A clean and respected example, if you can find it, will cost you.
Those rascals have held value for sure.
993 C4S or TT...

Post what he get's.

If you're serious about a 993 (C2, C2S, C4S) pm me. I know everything there is to know about buying them, current pricing, where to buy them, and what it's like to live with them. All their good points and all their faults.

No b.s., I'm just a longtime owner of these cars. Free (and realistic) advice.

Factory Five seems to be the most popular. I've seen a few in person that have looked quite good as well. They legally aren't allowed to sell a completed car, but there is a link on their site to contact them about approved builders
