First time ever needing body damage work - would love some forum opinions

Hey yall,

I was unfortunately unable to avoid some large rocks that fell out of a truck in front of me and I have some damage that needs to be repaired and repainted.

This is my first time ever requiring some body work. I've started to ask some local shops in North NJ with some good Yelp/Google reviews they're all quoting $1k+.

$1k+ seems a bit steep to me for this repair but it can absolutely be my naivety speaking. About how much do you think this should cost?

There are mobile services who will come to your location and fix this in short order for half that.

Cost will correlate directly with outcome. If you want it to be perfect and not know it happened, they'll likely replace the bumper and paint a new one, possibly blend it to the fenders too. That's well over $1000 to do. Let alone in an expensive area to do business like NJ.

A mobile guy will likely bondo it level and paint that spot to match. You will be able to see it if you look for it, and if you're picky, since you know where it is, you'll definitely see it.

You just have to decide how well you want it fixed.

I would only take it to a BMW certified repair facility. They will outline your different options.
