Bought are 22 x6 40i with 30000km thinking we bough a reliable vehicle with b58 motor to keep for a few years. Then I get on this forum a read about x5/x6 major transfer case problems. Was this a 19/20 year only x5/x6 only problem because the wrong oil was used from factory or is it a on going problem that will happen on are 22 also. I searched for 22 transfer case problems but did not find any. All were 19/20 models. Thanks for any help. Really enjoy are x6 but will dump it before warranty runs out if needed.

The SIB was released May 2020 so I would assume any vehicle produced afterwards would at least had the correct TC oil from factory...

Has bmw replaced transfer cases out of warranty. They offered to work with me on the cost - maybe 50%, I forget. They still make money from that discount.

I have a 2019, April production. Changed the oil and shudder is gone but feels like it’s not functioning the same after 6k km.

My 2019 was replaced under warranty. It was either the CPO or extended warranty that took care of it. I did complain about it before factory warranty was up. They changed the oil first and it got better but wasn’t fixed and then changed out the case. It was like a new car after that.
