Rolls Royce Chime and Ringtone

Has anyone been able to code a Rolls Royce chime and ringtone in their G05? I know it’s not offered as part of basic mode in BimmerCode but I found the following expert mode coding from an X3 G01 forum. Will it work on G05?

For the chimes:
HEADUNIT
-----3002 AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC
----------SOUND_SIGNAL_SET
---------------ROLLS_ROYCE

For the ringtone:
HEADUNIT
-----3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE
----------RINGTONE
---------------RR

Unfortunately, no luck. I did find 3002 AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC and 3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE items under the headunit module although with slightly different names in the expert mode. I could not find neither SOUND_SIGNAL_SET nor RINGTONE subitems though. Search didn’t reveal anything either. I know that BimmerCode doesn’t support all the available coding options even in expert mode so the warning chime needs to be coded using some other software. But I am sure it can be coded for G05 as someone I know had it done by an expert coder but he has no idea how he did it.

So, what do people use other than BimmerCode for coding that doesn’t have BimmerCode’s limitations?

You need Esys (BMW coding software), ESYSX (wrapper software for Esys that provides a token for Esys to function) which is 3rd Party, and a version of the PSDZ database that is equal to or greater than your vehicles Istep level.

Then, the world is your coding oyster!

This is for prev gen, but will show you what is involved with advanced coding and is mostly the same steps.

Yes, I found some pretty good video tutorials on E-Sys. However, I also chatted with BimmerCode and asked why warning chime coding was not supported in their app for G05 while the app clearly supported it for other models, e. g. G01 and F15. They told me that when they tried to code it for G05 (I assume they tried to modify SOUND_SIGNAL_SET), some of the sounds got lost completely like the PDC’s ones, and that’s the reason they don’t support it for G05. So, has anyone been able to successfully code warning chime and not lose any sounds completely?

This is what BimmerCode support told me about why the app doesn’t support warning chime coding for G05:

“It does not work for cars with MGU headunit and RAM.”

By “does not work” they elaborated that they tried to code the warning chime which indeed changed some sounds but some, like the PDC ones, stopped working altogether. So, anyone knows how G01 (which BimmerCode seems to support warning chime coding for) is different from G05 in relation to having MGU headunit and RAM?

Found an answer: G01 has NBT Evo (iDrive 6) head unit - quite surprising as I was sure all G series models had an MGU head unit (iDrive 7) but it turns out that quite a few don’t.

Yes, it works but only on certain iDrive versions as pointed out to me by BimmerCode support. Also, as pointed out by CodeMyBimmer (https://www.codemybimmer.ca/g-chassis-coding/) warning chime coding only works on "iDrive 7 with 07/2021 i-Step and Newer" and as their support mentioned to me over email it's a hit or a miss for 2022 iDrive versions. Apparently, BMW keeps removing and putting back Mini and Rolls Royce sound files in various iDrive versions. This coding (except for 2021 BMW sounds) definitely doesn't work on 03/2021 iDrive version which I have.

Worked on my 2021 f96 using bimmercode. Changed it back then went with the “ new BMW” chimes. Didn’t like the RR chimes.
