I took delivery of my X6, M50i on 3/28. Been too busy to get some things posted. (WFH is causing me to work way too many hours!!) I need to get my build thread updated, but thought I'd at least get some pictures posted this evening. Build thread is here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1702923

It’s a bizarre one isn’t it. I must admit I have seen some shots where I think it looks phenomenal and others where I’m not so crazy about it. I think these shots look great as does the original inside car park shot

The beast arrives on Thursday and now receiving final tints. Two small differences to normal ones:1 The iconic Grille function is apparently still fully working, despite being blacked out. Will be interesting to see how it looks when on. 2: rear diffuser is in body colour, which may spoil over time, but will be interesting to see (it’s unlikely that there will be much driving anywhere anyway any time soon!)
V much looking forward to driving it-- |

How come some of you get the diffuser in body colors? Did you get your dealer to paint it? I haven’t this as a choice with the order.

Yep, dealer painted it. I personally really dislike the grey diffuser - I just think it introduces another less attractive colour to the aesthetics. When I first enquired about doing it (pre sale) i was told that they didnt like doing it as the paint can get hot and start to bubble.
After ordering, they were quite happy to process it...probably because in these challenging times, they are looking forward to me visiting again for repairs :-) |

I completely agree, really hate the grey tone. It affects the contrasts on some colors as it adds a 3rd component. I'm also thinking to paint it to black or to car color.

Beast has arrived. Black iconic grill is looking fantastic (pics to follow).
Out of interest, what are peoples thoughts about the need to 'run in' cars or not. I had the same salesperson tell me at different points that i do need to run it in, and that i dont. I saw also in the handbook something about not hitting 4500 revs until after 2000km. thoughts? im just keen to try the launch control which is unfortunately a no no until then... |

Thanks for the link and advice. No launch control for now then.
Car arrived on Thursday and was custom built. It really is phenomenal and very intuitive. Struggling with some of the wifi stuff and getting the recorder to records 24/7 but will speak with a genius tomorrow. Funnily enough, my order was made in jan and was expected for end of may. It was on a boat 2 days before the factory shut down due to c-19. Have to tell you, I wasn’t sure whether that was a good or bad thing (what a time to buy a car) but I am v happy I completed. Rather than post the usual, I decided to get almost arty |
