Thank you

How do you link it to your profile?

Also heard you can have up to 5 digital keys (on phone) - how does one activate multiple?
What options must car have to get the digital card? Comfort access and wireless charging? IN other words - do all new cars come with one? What about stripper car?

Have not linked one yet once we sell one I can post a video on how to do that. Activating the phone is a slightly different procedure but since it only works on some Sansung phones I have not been able to do it yet. You need to have comfort access for this to work, the pad is there if you have wireless charging or no (there are two different pads).

You need to have comfort access. To pair it you go into the driver profile and set the recognition.

What do you mean it is activated but doesn't work? What part doesn't work and what happens when you try to link it to your profile?

I have the same case as the above user. Touching it several times but nothing happens. The key card is activated in the system. it shows expires in 2099. With the key card put on the wireless charging station area, I can start/stop the car.

The only part that is not working is the Door Lock/Unlock. I checked in the Profile and Car/settings/door access and the Key access is checked.

What else?!!

Keep on trying and touching the key card to the door handle. I didn't think mine was working to unlock the doors at first either, but it just has to hit the sweet spot. For me, it's holding it flat and towards the back but not touching the "lock" ridges. Once I found the trick, it works every time. Good luck!

Thanks for your help. The only change I think I did was to put the door handle cup area a 3M clear tape to avoid scratching the door cup areas but I do not think it would take away the required power of nfc connectivity.

I called bmw genius team today and explained it including the door cup tape and they said no it wouldn't interfere with the connectivity.

They advised me to take the car to the dealer which is the last thing I am planning to and post back here.

Thanks again!

Genius told me to take to the Dealer. Have not taken it yet but its a bit of inconvenience. I am thinking about resetting the iDrive in the car (pressing Power/Vol knob for 30sec). Does anyone think it would make any change?

We were considering using the card, but at the PCD delivery we were told its "free" for a year, then it has a fee?? Lost interest if there is a fee in the future. Put the card with the spare key in a drawer, where it will sit until lease end.

Digital Key (app based) is not the same as the NFC Key Card

It works, but I'm not sure the point. In my wallet it doesn't always read it and opening/locking the door takes the right touch point. Key lets the car auto open and lock.

Agreed
When I use the normal key I can leave it in my pocket walk away and the car locks walk back it opens

The card has to touch the door handle to lock and unlock I am not sure the point it's not very convenient
Am not using it correctly? Or missing the intent

I think the idea is you can use the card in circumstances where you would not have the physical key fob. For example, if you were on the beach and didn't want to risk the key fob getting wet or sandy. The card can stay in your poicket and be submerged.

I also read on here about someone who left his vehicle at work overnight, and returned to pick it up the next day, and of course forgot his keys (which I do all the time!). Having the card in his wallet allowed him to start the vehicle without the keys.

I think the card is just supposed to be a handy option for when the keys are not available, or you would not want to potentially damage or lose them.

I was very happy I had my card key in my wallet the day I stupidly left my keys in my jacket pocket and left my jacket at work. It saved me 2 71 minute train trips to go and get it since nobody was at home to bring me my spare key and Ubering home and getting a ride to the train at 5:15am the next day would have been an undesirable option.
