Picking some nits

Here's a place to post some small issues that you have discovered after a few weeks/months of ownership. Nothing that really affects functionality, also not a bug, and not something physically broken, but is perhaps something that you don't understand why such a thing could exist in such a premium vehicle.

I'll go first.

• Sun visors are hard plastic, not soft touch plastic as found elsewhere in the interior. Perhaps cover them in the headliner fabric, anything to soften the feel.

• The 8 programmable buttons are springy. Well, not the buttons per se, but the panel they are attached to is not solidly mounted. Go try pushing on them and you'll see what I mean.

• Wiper blades are "wiggly". This was mentioned by me elsewhere, but I thought I'd add it to the list-o-nits.

And yes, I still love my X5.

Its the same as the headliner for us.
The F15 was plastic, but the G05 is the same as headliner fabric.

These two!! The springy programmable buttons I definitely noticed, but I'm so glad I'm not the only one with the wiggly wiper blades... I can't stand it! Mine squeak too and also jump when changing direction and hit the A pillar. My X5 today has been in the shop for 2 weeks and that's one of the issues I have them looking at.

Wow that "springy buttons" is a heck of a nit pick. So you'd rather individual buttons each with their own travel....so they can get worn out and pop off and whatever else. I think the design of a one piece panel with a bit of tactile element is nice..
Tough crowd!

Mine are same fabric as the headliner....

Mine are solid and feel very nice to press, they have great feedback. I also enjoy the pre-touch information when you hover over the button...

So far have only used mine to clean then window but haven't noticed anything odd about them. I did notice they are heavy when lifting to clean under them and they sag alot.

I love the G05, but if I had a nit to pick it would be the driver's seat belt latch position. It's not a big deal but whenever I go to fasten the seat belt, I have to pull the latch away from the center console to get the buckle to latch. The latch is also a bit too far down. If it were another inch longer it would be easier to fasten the seat belt.

Other than the minor glitches that are well documented, that's all I can come up with. Overall, the car is amazing!

I miss the trip odometer function my X3 (F25) had. Reset itself automatically after a few hours, so it was perfect for measuring the the time to get to and from work.

Anybody know if the G5 has a similar function?

Yes, one of the trip data buckets is for the current trip and it resets about 4 hours after the car is stopped.

Maybe the visor material is related to kind of leather you have, Vernasca vs. Merino? I have Vernasca.

So when you push the buttons, after they have moved through their travel and bottomed out, you don't see the that whole strip kind of flex backward? I'm not pounding on them, just pushing the buttons to activate them.

I have Merino and my visors are plastic. Very nice plastic, but still plastic. I liked the cloth on my F10 much more.

Hmmm. So it's not the leather choice.

Tenac has the M50i and I have the M40i. Is that it?

The leather dash option perhaps?

The lower tailgate button needs to be recessed more. It's too easy to activate when leaning in to retrieve something.

We have the non-leather dash and have the fabric sun visors.

What colour is your headliner? Black?

Yes, black. You have a 30d, which another data point.

It doesn't seem to me model specific or leather options specific.

Hopefully more of you will chime in with more data points to help unravel this mystery.

Those preset buttons look so ugly on the premium cars

Got it, thanks. Just haven't figured out how to save that screen to one of the preset buttons. Tells me "can't be saved"

You can't save the detail screen as a preset. Move one screen back and then save it. That is #3 on mine.

Update on the sun visors - I guess they are not completely hard plastic, they do have a little give, as I discovered when I checked them over again. Still, they should feel more like the headliner, which has the right amount of softness.
