I have a '16 50i and will probably get the 40i or hybrid next time. 50i is great (I had a M3 prior) ... but I think a 6 is still BMW's sweet spot. And lately I am after the most range per tank... the 50 I is thirsty... very thirsty. But... it is amazing with DHP when you want it to be...

I read the article on consumer reports -- its great. One question I have though is how much better is the 2019 X5 than the 2018 X5? Trying to figure out if I should get a 2018 or 2019 5.0i

Don't buy an F15 (2018-2015ish) X5, the 2019 (G05) is significantly better. Also this isn't a Mustang so it's a 50i

I thought the same way but ended up with the 40i. The engine in the 40i is one of the most reliable BMW engines there is. BMW has the straight six nailed down.
I can't say the same about the 50i's engine, nor BMW's history with the V8s |
