RG Sport - BMW G05 X5 xDrive40i Build Thread

A quick post about our local customer's BMW G05 X5 xDrive40i that I've been working on.

Customer originally visit us to mod his BMW F90 M5 CP.
One visit to my shop and saw that I have done a lot of BMW, especially F15/F16 X5/X6, F85/F86 X5M/X6M and recently F90 M5, he is convinced that he is at the right place.

He told me about his order on G05 X5 xDrive40i that is on its way.
I told him to bring it over and get it modded.
Long story short, he gave me a to do list.

I know that it is still early in the market, but I want to share on how good this G05 X5 looks when it gets some treatment.

So, enough with the story, here are the list of mods to date and pictures.

List of Mods:
- RaceChip GTS Black with App function
- AutoTecknic Competition Shift Paddles in Silver Alloy finish
- RG Sport painted Front Reflector in Alpine White
- M Performance Shadowline Exhaust tips
- H&R Wheel Spacers 12mm front and 15mm rear

This thread will updated when there are more mods added to the car.
Feel free to reply or PM for any questions.

Looks awesome. The Spacer size seems perfect. Getting mine next week. I've got the Shadowline tips and hoping to have the Black Grill. Looks like I need the Black Badging and the Alpine White reflectors. Are the reflectors hard to do?

I would be interested in reading about how the performance (0 - 60 times) stacks up with the Racechip compared to stock.

Or has anyone else measured this (using dragy or similar tools) for a 40i?

Will you be offering lowering springs for those of us without adjustable height?

It is not as hard as F15/F16, but not as easy as just turning the steering wheel.
I will make the installation instruction soon.
I got most of the major color in stock already.

Unfortunately, no dragy data or dyno available yet.
I am asking RaceChip Germany to make some video about it.
I do have dragy, but it is not my car and my area is a lot of cops.
I gotta drive out quite far to find back road.
I don't think the customer will be too happy if I do that.

Besides, RaceChip is a simple plug-n-play piggyback was tuning chip.
It has a great success in the previous gen X5/X6 and current F90 M5.

If you are looking to max out the engine throughput, then your choice would be a flash tune.

I have been using it on my G30 540 (same engine as G05 40i) for the past 2 years and it has been working great.

Once it is available, yes, I will be offering them.
I am waiting for more lowering option availability before I get the car.
So far the only option is to get self-leveling on all corner as what this customer have.

The car looks amazing! Which spacers are those exactly? Part numbers?

I looked on Tirerack.com and they dont list any spacers for the model.

I do sell them.

The setup on the picture is actually 15/20.
While the customer opted for 12/15 setup.

I need to correct the post later.

Looks great. Can you ride around at that height or is that only for loading?

That's on Sport mode.
It will stay at that height when you drive at sport mode.

I like all the mods on the vehicle except the AutoTecknic Competition. I think the originals look much better.

Thank you for the feedback.
Funny you mention that, the customer likes it more in the G05 X5 than on his F90 M5 CP.
I guess in F90 M5 CP is more functional while in G05 X5 is more of cosmetic.

The stance is perfect. The paddles are overkill IMO. Any before and after Dyno's?

Unfortunately no.
I have yet to find a customer who will let me borrow their new car for a full day to get it tested and dyno.

Doesn't take a full day. Just a couple hours. Wished I was local.

With the way the traffic is in LA, and the reputable dyno shop is 1 hour away.
I wish you are in LA.

If you don't lower your car, 12/15 is the best setup.
But, if you are lowering it at 1", 15/20 is my favorite.
