I think that 32 miles should give you a reasonable charge 30-40% ? And I really doubt if will empty the battery going up. |

I pull a 5000lbs caravan with my 45e.
I drive the combination always in SPORT INDIVIDUAL mode (suspension and steering in comfort) so the battery is for back up and other electric stuff like AC. Half an hour steep hills like 10% with 50mph bring you up to an altitude of 13.000ft that is quite high for such a short ride. I did not do that. I did some hills like 7% a few minutes up and than down again. With a speed of 60mph and about 300hp in lower gears it seems that there is no electric consumption on the wheels. I never had to use full power in the right gear.

How big is that Airstream? Weight and length? Looking to get one to tow with the X5.

Did you order the factory hitch, bringing the towing capacity up to 7200 lbs?
Is the factory hitch a ball? Or is it a 2" receiver? I want a 2" receiver so I can plug in my own hitch ball with the weight distribution and anti-sway bars. Can I factory order a 2" receiver? |

Another towing-related question... The 45e has a 24 kWh battery. My travel trailer's lead acid battery has a total capacity of maybe 1kWh. So if I'm in a campsite, the X5 is parked and turned off, and my trailer is plugged into the 45e at the hitch, will the 45e provide 12VDC to my trailer? It's important that it can provide the 12VDC supply without the vehicle being turned on.
If it can, that would mean I would never have to bring my Yamaha generator camping anymore. The 45e would provide an abundance of power to my trailer. And I could recharge the 45e's battery by running the engine and going for a drive. It would be perfect. Also, is the 12V cigaratte lighter connector in the console powered when the vehicle is off? A related question... Does the 45e have an option for a 120VAC outlet? If so, what amperage? |

As far as I know the high voltage 24kWh battery is not directly connected to the 12V battery.
So connecting to the 12V hitch connection will only drain the normal 12V battery (but probably the car will shut of the hitch connection). Same with a directly connected continuous running dashcam, this will drain your 12V battery an you will get messages like “check control, energy management. Start engine, more energy consumption during shut down.......” There is no 120VAC outlet

So disappointing. Enough power to run my trailer for weeks and I have no access to it? Come on engineers, you can do better than that.

I have over 1,500 miles towing with this. Takes a little to dial in, but every brake controller has its quirks. I use an old cell phone to pair so I can use my current phone for everything else. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JQ99SDD..._Vx2jFbM8DS46T |

Might want to post your question in the X5/6M subforum - https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=705

I'll add my picture too but from an F85.
From my post about towing. I wonder if the new generation has the same limitations. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1745256 |

To anyone towing a travel trailer in the USA. Did you / should you use a weight distribution hitch for a travel trailer that weighs in at about 6500lb? I have the air suspension on a G05 M50i with the factory installed trailer hitch.

Caravan Fridge - anderson plug & dual batteries
Hi everyone. Just wondering if those with vans can tell me how they run their fridge while hooked up to their G05 x5 when car isn't running. Up until now I've always had dedicated battery available with a dual battery setup.

Here's my G05 pulling my Waverunners. More often than not I pull them with my truck ('19 RAM 1500 Limited), but sometimes the G05 is easier. Brought them home from my storage space today to winterize them for the season. A sad day indeed.

In Norway only 80km/h on trailers with brakes, if no brakes like jetski etc only 60km/h. During 2021 some trailers like caravans will be allowed 100km/h if they have annual checks, suspension and tires for speed... tongue weight is recommended to 75kg, but X5 can have 140kg which is high in Norway. My previous Tesla X100d could only have 90kg. |
