Mine won't install either. It's stock on 33% for the last 5 days.

i don't believe version 11/2023.73 specifically is available via OTA for US vehicles. version 11/2023.50 was pushed OTA back in march
note the last two digits for each update file represent 'minor' version differences. they can be market-specific, timing-specific, or source-specific. for example with the latter, my dealership updated my vehicle to 11/2023.40 via ISTA while in for service in Dec '23. three months later, i received notification and updated to 11/2023.50 via OTA Last edited by nZtiZia; 04-05-2024 at 06:47 AM.. |

Well, I called BMW Connected Drive last week and they told me the phone was ringing off the hook since the 11/2023.73 update and that there is a problem with this update. No connected drive anymore, myBMW app is useless, ...
What does this mean? Local or European problem. Software updates differs from country or US vs Europe? So my 11/2023.73 is not the same as yours? |

Same! Would love to find out as well. I'm curious when the next major update will be.

The update succeeded on my 50e, it gave no errors, the new traffic light now shows up in my HUD. But it seems there is totally no connection with BMW. The myBMW app is still in a state prior to the OTA update, I can't use connected services in the car, clock is still on winter hour, no ambient air cartridges still stay at 100%, ... BMW genius told me US updates are from the US, ours from Munich. He thought they could be a bit different. Does BMW have one global 11/2023.73 software file or do they have several 11/20123.73 files, one for the US market, one for the European market, one for Asia, ... or even per country? Even if it's one file there can be a bug in the elsif market = 'BE' then... |

I own my first BMW - an x50e. Just preformed the update but I'm surprised no one is talking about the drama BMW does to get an upgrade. On phone app notification that a new upgrade is available, had to go through the following -
a) Connect the phone through bluetooth. b) That's not enough - also connect to the car's hotspot. c) The car tells that "Driving is required" for the update. Can't recall any other upgrade on any device asking me to move with it. d) While driving - it tells that the car now has to be parked for the upgrade. e) Upgrade started with the battery cooling fan at full speed so that you know upgrade is in process. f) Upgrade done with my screen layout all changed and a voice assistance witch taking over my radio control. Is this how the other BMW models take upgrade ? I got a Volvo and a Hyundai that downloads the upgrade directly to the car and installs without any of this drama. |

a) i connect my iPhone via CarPlay which is a dual-connection mode (both wifi and bluetooth need to be on and enabled). it's been consistent both in every day use and when needing to upload the upgrade file from my phone to the vehicle. i've uploaded five OTA upgrade files to my 45e all via CarPlay, never just the bluetooth/iDrive connection alone, so i can't speak to that method's efficacy. b) connection to the vehicle's wifi hotspot is not required. i never subscribed to the hotspot feature; most don't. NOTE the vehicle's wifi network DIRECT BMW-XXXXX is not the same thing as the wifi hotspot feature. many confuse this fact and appears you, too c) first, the update doesn't occur while driving; that's just getting the file into the vehicle whether uploading from the phone to the vehicle or downloading directly from the cloud server to the vehicle. second, driving around has its place but absolutely not required. upgrade files can be somewhat large, and a clear mobile signal is required so driving optimizes transfer. you can sit idle depending on your surrounding conditions, but even for me on a good day, the file upload from my phone to the vehicle takes ~20-25 minutes (much slower if downloading from the cloud server to the vehicle directly), so having it done in the background while driving is much more tolerable d) to reiterate, you're confusing what's happening in step c versus step d; they're not the same. step c is file download/upload to the vehicle. step d is the actual upgrade when the vehicle must be parked as modules are being overwritten. i don't see how one can drive safely if the crash safety module is being overwritten during an active drive. e) the cooling fan isn't necessarily an indicator of the upgrade starting. as mentioned, i've performed five OTA upgrades, some immediately after my commute home from work or with the vehicle sitting in my garage on the weekend. sometimes the fan turns on, sometimes not. f) if you read the release notes disclaimers, there is clear mention that some settings will revert to default settings, so it pays to go through all your settings after any upgrade. yeah, would be nice if they didn't, but even this occurs when upgrading my iPhone iOS or MacBook MacOS, so it’s not an outlying phenomenon BTW i have a G30 and the experience is the same. BMW's upgrade process could definitely be improved, but i wouldn't call it "dramatic". we've owned bimmers since 2009, and i found upgrading via USB more straightforward than the current OTA method. Took delivery on 11/22 and got the dreaded High Voltage message two days later. Closed it out and the car has performed perfectly and without issue since. After coming here and reading about cars spending weeks at dealerships while they tried to find the issue, I decided I would not report to the dealer unless and until it happened again, which it has not. So, I'm not sure I will see any difference but this does give me some piece of mind. Cheers.

However, this seems to have been abandoned in favour of the owner downloading to their mobile phone first then uploading the update into the car via WiFi. Seems it’s now more of a faff and much more clunky than it used to be. I guess there were reliability issues with the OTA mechanism. |

the prevalence of the upgrade file being downloaded directly to the vehicle now via mobile connection since the LCI's release likely stems from the in-vehicle connection issues folks were having when failing to upload the file from their phones to their vehicles |
