Cats and dogs living together.....it's an upside world. I've done a bunch of child apprehensions. Kida that are in real danger are usually back home before the paperwork is done.

I realized how old I am recently by declaring, on our company wellness conference call, that I would like to incorporate a post lunch nap time. My statement was not held in high regard from our Japanese owners.

Maybe this is just the Old Fart in me bitching about nothing (Get off my lawn!!), but I sometimes question the sanity of the general populous. We went to the local supermarket tonight to grab a few things. I parked next to an Altima that was locked but running. No one in it, but I could see from the tassel hanging from the mirror that the vents were blowing full bore. Mind you, it's in the 40's here, so no need to keep the heater running. We picked up 8 or 10 things and came back out to the car. Maybe 10-15 minutes. The Altima is still there running with no one in it.

Who the f**k leaves their car running for that long in a parking lot? WTF is wrong with people?

I need to have a drink and chill. Huge hole in the bozone layer today, I guess.

It can be zero freakin degrees out and I won’t leave my car running. I will not start it to “warm it up”. I don’t get the auto starts. I thought letting the engine idle was bad. You’re supposed to start up, wait for tach to drop and drive off. I remember what is was like before heated seats and steering wheels. Damn pansies today.

You don't comment on the condition of the car but maybe the owner is having trouble with their POS Altima and won't risk shutting it down because it may not start again.... Sorry, trying to be that glass half full guy! Nah, F it. I'm having a drink as well!

Honestly, could have been an accident. Once my girl and I went out to grab a bite. Following our meal she couldn't find her keys. I said "okay well maybe they are near the car and you dropped them". Turns out keys are still in the vehicle, vehicle is still running, and all doors are unlocked. Shocked it wasn't stolen as this was in Philly and we had been at the bar for maybe an hour and a half. I just turned and looked at her with a face that wreaked of "you are an idiot" then we laughed it off lol.

I suppose. I've locked keys in my car before. Loooong ago when I was young and dumb and tried to drive from Ft. Hood, Texas to Massachusetts non-stop except for gas and food. Came out of a restaurant at a rest area and found my keys were still in the ignition, but the doors were locked. Luckily a nice lady and her daughter pulled up right beside me with a clothes rail and lots of wire hangers in their car. Saved my butt.

Yeah, the good ol' days when I could go 48+ hours without sleep. Sometimes more. Can barely make it through a 16 hr day now.

I could drive completely across the country non-stop back in the day, and even ran in the One Lap of America.

These days, my doctors won't let me drive further than my 20 minute commute to work...and I'm winded when I get there.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to bed at 8:30 PM.....

My dad and my uncle owned a cattle ranch in Havre, Montana back in the '70s through the '90s. Once every couple of weeks we used to start out on a Friday afternoon when Dad got out of school (he was a High School teacher as a hobby) in our 2 cattle semis and head out to the ranch to haul back a load of cattle. It was 13 or 14 hours depending on traffic and weather. We'd get there at about 6 AM and have a bite to eat and then start loading steers.

A couple hours later we were back on the road, headed to Northfield, MN. After a 14-hour drive we'd have to unload them, which took a couple of hours. It'd end up being about midnight on a Saturday night when it was all done. My old man had been up since 4 AM on Friday morning, and he'd invariably insist that we go out for beers afterward, where he would hold court and we'd recount the stories of the trip. He did this well into his 50s. He was a genuine badass - hit the beach at Inchon Korea in 1950 and came home 2 years later with a Silver Star and 2 Purple Hearts. And you'd never meet a humbler man.

Cheers, Dad.

Yep and I'm younger than everyone in this crowd. My first car had air conditioner, roll down windows, a single air bag and hubcaps. I thought I had it made because I got a car with a air bag and air conditioner.

Not quite that bad, but it had 3-on-the-tree. And drum brakes.
