Hi.

My car g05 x5 has ambient lighting. I can't work out why the colour scheme changes on it's own or sometimes the ambient lighting is switched off completely? Example. I set the colour to Lilac. Drive some where, get out. But when I come back in the colour has switched to Orange, drive some where else get out. But then when I get back in, the ambient lighting is switched off. I've read the manual and it's not supposed to be random .... any ideas?

It almost sounds like it keeps switching the driver profile every time you come back to the vehicle and unlock. Is your key paired to your driver profile?

This started to happen to me randomly as well after 6 months of no issues. My tach screen would also reset to the default screen too. I just got the 11/2019.40 iDrive update two days ago and the lighting has stayed put so we'll see how that goes. Not sure what version you're on but maybe your next update will resolve the issue.

Hi. I have the key linked to my profile and it's definitely my profile that is selected when I get into the car. My version is 11/2018.49 . However when I try to update in the idrive menu it simply says "Searching for upgrades" and doesn't actually do anything. Do over the air updates work or do I have to take it in to a dealership? I bought this car as an ex demo from BMW, it's a X50d.

Have you tried resetting idrive? Hold volume button for 30 seconds until it reboots.

Tried resetting and restoring to factory settings but still does not let me upgrade, stuck on version 11/2018.49 ?

No OTA updates yet. That can only be done at the dealer at this time. I was hoping the reboot of idrive would fix the ambient lighting issue you were having.

Got you, thanks! Will monitor and see if the reboot fixed it. The car is going in next week and the guy on the phone said that the car is due an update November 19.

So the software update seems to have fixed the issue.
