I don't get out of bed for polls under $100M.

AMEN! Small rant, but I hate going through a thread that is talking about the latest software, but ends up talking about something completely unrelated. I am guilty of it, so I will try to be better! But I am too lazy to sift through nonsense to get to the point. Discussing money/income always bring some sort of awkwardness or animosity. Let's agree on this, we all make less than Jeff Bezos, so we all have that in common. |

This data is only useful if you compare with people from the same country.
In Europe most households earn less than 100.000 euro before tax a year. But still people buy large cars like the X5, e-tron, Model X, etc... I know for sure that in Belgium a lot of X5 owners (that buy the car as a company car), earn less than 35.000 (after tax) a year. |

Appears to be a lot of testosterone (apologies to the female posters) flowing though the site recently. I’m referring to the battle going on between the M “pretenders” and the “purist”. It appears no one is happy. Admittedly, the BMW M badging does get confusing and, IMO, is unnecessary. |

I like the sportier look but can appreciate the “purist” hostility as it does muddy up the M brand. I now feel for the M users with the introduction of the “M Competition”. M is now referred to as “base”. Who wants to pay premium $ for a premium “base” car? The guys at BMW are brilliant so I assume there is logic to this strategy. |

The days of absolute M, AMG, S, etc.. are gone and have been for a few years now. Companies needed to have different levels of high performance as the thresholds and HP have gotten so high for even experienced drivers. Look at how many 911 variations there are and that should speak volumes that not every performance driver wants the hardest and most extreme vehicle.
The good old days of what a M5 was would be tore apart by some of the standards some feel are worthy of what a “M car” should be. It’s nonsense. M was and is nothing more than a abstract performance idea. There are degrees of “M” by BMW. This was discussed at length last year. Not everyone wants a full out “M” treatment on every car. It’s not the right tool for the job for most people. I own full M Competition and a 50i M-Sport. I am in no way offended there is a “M-Sport” package or M50 logo on a SUV and touring cars. I didn’t want a full X5M for my luxury/muscle SUV as it’s low hanging radiators, stiff ride, and other high performance options make it a liability as a cross country touring vehicle in mixed weather. “M” is a performance idea and not a list of mandatory items to qualify for the letter. Only BMW really determines what they feel is worthy of the “M” letter as it’s their standard. These days the level of performance of the M-Sport is faster than the full “M” cars of the previous generation. When your non full “M” SUV can do sub 4 second 0-60mph, you pretty much don’t need to prove anything to anybody with a letter on the back of your trunk. The brand died when they decided everything could get an M. Having come from an M car, I can see how they might get pissy. Their beef should be with BMW, not the owner. |

I'm sure there are some individuals at or close to a $million income and still have a hard time swallowing the price of the G05.

I work in tech so it’s common enough to see people pulling $250k-$500k, just the $1M+ numbers surprised me a bit. Half the time someone posts a poll like this people just troll and pick whatever the max is in a “nonyabizness” line of thought. Lux4Play or 6speedonline on the other hand is where it’s definitely right shifted to the top bracket for a lot of posters. |

To the credit of the G05 Bimmerpost forum, I am active on other luxury item forums and income questions like this is a disaster bringing out all kinds of social economic justice politics and strait out hate/jealousy comments.
I give the members here of being a grown up regardless how they interpret the results. |
