No longer have welcome lights (carpet, door handles, parking lights)

This evening i was in a dark parking lot when i noticed my welcome lights no longer work when i unlock with my fob like i used to. Just flashes turn signal and opens mirrors.

Only thing I've done recently is code some stuff on bimmercode but unsure what may triggered the exterior lighting. They don't even trigger when i open the door.

Anyone have this issue? Or know if this is a symptom of any other coding?

No updates to my factory software was made (oct 2018 build)

Obvious first question: have you double checked your settings, perhaps something got cleared accidentally/incidentally? And one supposes an iDrive reboot won't ever hurt.

Double checked settings and even disabled and renabled again in idrive just to be sure, no dice.
I'll try to reboot to see if it helps.

I suppose a follow up question is what and how did you code? But doesn't seem likely.

Can't remember all the items I've coded but i coded via bkuetooth dongle. it's almost like the car doesn't think its evening to turn on the lights.

Im not even sure how to retrive backups as the app on Android is shortly different. If this hasn't happened to anyone else, I guess one (tidious) way is to restore back to factory and perform each code and test to see which is the culprit

Sounds like you ONLY did Bimmercode coding. I don't recall anything in Bimmercode that could even approach this issue, so don't think it's anything you coded. We need more ideas.

Ive got a bit of slap in the forhead update.

After lots of failed attempts to isolate any coding that was linked... Turns out the lights are linked to the interior lighting switch that i had turned off (overhead lighting)

Wish i can have separate control over the lighting.

Thanks for all the help.

I don't think I know what that is. Can you post a picture of the weird-overloaded-functionality switch please.

Sorry no picture but I was referring to the button in the overhead just near the sunroof that operates the interior dome light. if you hold the middle one for over 3 seconds, it turns off interior lights when the doors are open. I've kept it that way because it was just excessive lighting in the evening.

I just realised that it also turns of welcome carpet and door handle lights

Well that's brand new information. Will test it out and confirm as well. Good to know!

I can confirm everything you say (April 2019 Canadian build, now on 11/2019.40 software). Two new things learned today:

- holding that main interior overhead light switch button for 3+ seconds turns off all interior lights; reasonably logical

- and also turns off all exterior welcome lights (door flood lights, handles, and light carpet); completely illogical, yet true

Maybe TurtleBoy can find us the manual pages that talk about that.

Thanks!

Couldn't find any reference, either in the manual or the technical documents, concerning that switch turning off the welcome lights, only the interior ones.

Lol no anger, just thought something was broken. Still trying to figure a few things out, always a learning curve when changing brands.

Don't want to awake this topic again but did you guy check the Settings/Car/Exterior Lighting/Comfort Area?

My software version is 11/2019.55 and it I remember (sorry can't reach out to the car now to double check) but some comfort access settings especially the Welcome Carpet settings has some more items now. It allows you to have it on when unlocking the car or turn this feature off or turn the carpet lightning on when you turn of the engine and open the door in night.

while i am going to check it physically later, here is a video that show that menu.

Hi guys, when you open the door (2020 x3m) my head lights turn off. Is there anyway to keep them on automatically or is it normal? My handles and carpet lights stay on, but no head lights or breaks. I'm going crazy!
