You need to have the Driving Assistance Professional package. Without that, it is just standard cruise control.

We have standard cruise control. Hoever the buttons to increase and decrease distance on the steering wheel are there. When I press them there is a message that this option is disabled. So we could still upgrade to ACC apparently?

You need the Driver Assist Professional (DAP) package (5AU), which includes the radar in the front bumper.

Do you have a front radar? ..its a little black elongated oval shape in the lower center part of the front bumper.

1. Cruise with distance control
2. Cruise with distance control and steering, need to touch the wheel every so often.
3. Cruise with distance control and steering, total hands free.
How do I engage #3? I have the Drivers Assistance Professional Pkg.

When you are on a qualifying highway (it must be a limited access, divided highway, think Interstates) and your speed goes below 40mph (this generally happens by the ACC slowing down but you could brake but then will have to engage the cruise again) the Assisted Driving Plus (that is what extended Traffic Jam Assist is called in iDrive) mode will become available. A message will appear in the IC and on the control display and you press the Mode button to activate it. Here are some pics from my 2019.

Is there a way to have the Assisted Driving Mode turned on by default? I always have to turn it on by pushing the button on my steering wheel. When I leave my car and come back and start driving again I need to push it again.

How else would cruise work? It wouldn't be safe to have it take off and automatically resume its last speed when you start it.

Thank you! Iím assuming this is done by pressing the same steering wheel button that I mentioned in my first post? Appreciate all your insight in this thread!

When the conditions exist, and the car gives you that notification, you simply push the "MODE" button to switch to Assisted Driving PLUS.
