Back to the port. . .

So about 10 days ago my car moved to "in transit", step 14/16 on the track my bmw site.

Today it went backwards. It's now listed as "at the port" step 13/16.

I heard rumors of their being a workers strike at the port in CA but not sure what's caused this.

Anyone else ever see the car move backwards in production status or have insights to any port issues in the US?

Call your salesperson and get with a Genius. The online BMW Tracking is way unreliable.

It's possible the system was just updating the status automatically based on number of days elapsed from Dispatch from Factory, etc., and then when it actually got to the port, it was updated to the correct status. But as polychromatic said, the online tracker is very unreliable. Your best bet is to talk to someone at BMW NA or to call your SA. They are usually able to get more accurate status updates.

Thanks everyone. I called the number and they said there was a "work order" being done and that's why it got sent back.

Anyone know what a "work order" would include? Damage? recall?

Mine finished production on the 4th. It was at the port on the 8th. Then in Transit on the 17th and back to At Port on the 28th. Today my dealer told me the car will be at the dealership next week! A month to travel across the country seems like a long time and twice longer than the last X5 we ordered that was shipped across the country.

Seems like a similar timeline to mine. Are you in CA?

Finally took delivery of the X5 last night. I'm a bit surprised at how long it took to ship this one across the country. I don't recall past BMW's taking just over a month to ship from SC.

Mines in production now scheduled to be complete by 2/17. I selected PCD and earliest I could get was 3/12. Almost a month for it to sit at the factory, which somewhat makes me nervous!
