I've just got back from the garage with a 11/2019.41 today -- he mentioned it had arrived last night. Not sure what might be different tho...

The drive recorder 'as a service' now works. Didn't order it on the car but bought the app on the connected website. With the 07/2019.55 it didn't work. now it does.

First impression is that the surround view is much improved. The indicator bars are much faster/sensitive than before.
Day two. :-)

The steering assist works a lot better/smoother than with my previous version (07.2019.55). Keeping the car in lane is smoother.

Anticipating when a car in front of you comes to a complete stop is also improved. It used to be more a 'panicking' mode with late/hard braking. Now it releases throttle and brakes gently. Car never did this before.

Now this convinced me to get an update. Too often did I had to keep telling my self “trust the car, trust the car” and it didn’t make me more “relaxed” when driving at all.

Hi Wout. Did you do the over the air update or in the garage? I'm still on 07 2019 63. I don't see an update in my car or app. I also live in Belgium.

Forget about trusting the car. Slamming the brakes every time you come to a stop can’t be good for the longevity of your pads and rotors. That’s why I currently avoid assisted driving in the city.

The vehicle does some serious braking and accelerating even with just the regular assisted features. I am glad I ended up purchasing the brakes and wipers warranty!

The garage did this update. Because the apps (drive recorder) I bought on the connected drive website didn't show up in my car.

FYI After the update the apps did show up and work.

Ok thanks for the info! I ordered the drive recorder and it worked on when the car was delivered. 23/12. I recorded once and it works. Still not clear for me if better to record 4 cameras or just the one in front. Resolution would be better but missing 3/4 of the available info.

As a fellow UK G05 driver (40i MSport), can you tell me what differences you've noticed on this software release. Did your dealer give you a list of enhancements/fixes or just leave you to work it out? Thanks.

No the dealers usually know a lot less than the readers of this forum! And release notes are a thing of the past, nobody makes them anymore, certainly not mentioning bug fixes, as it might implies that there are bugs, and liability blah blah...

So, after a few days with .41, stuff I noticed:
+ Spotify, at friggin last -- all working, and very nicely here. Huge improvement for me as I use Spotify everywhere.
+ Assisted driving lost track once on me... without warnings. Not sure I like that I will have to see if I can reproduce it. I never had a problem before and I tend to not pay attention as much as I should when it's on. Well here I had to 'rescue' it from changing lane without me being involved.
+ Branking/accelerating behind another car is definitely smoother. I had had a few case of the car slaming on the brake before, and it seems they fixed that, which is a nice improvement.
+ There MIGHT be a few differences in the 3D view, seems it triggered itself without me being in reverse, as I was manoeuvering at low speed near a gate

Otherwise I haven't noticed anything terribly different yet, compared to the 07 version I had.

No idea how to attach a pic from phone but seems like I'm on 11/2019.50. Jan 2020 production date took delivery last week.

That's possible and the latest reported in the field. Actual available latest today is 11/2019.55 but that's probably not even released widely to dealers yet. Please start a new thread for your version if you want to report/discuss its distinct observations.

Woah steady on cowboy

Actually imagine the nerves the person who has to sign off that off feels given the issues they've obviously experienced. Imagine waking up the next day and find you bricked 200,000 X5s in the US/Canada

I've said it before russelldav ... I will be the test dummy! It's just frustrating they they're releasing all these .xx versions without software notes. I wouldn't mind if they did remote updates, but there's no way of telling what's new, what's fixed, what's changed. I don't think they quite know!

Agree 100%. I actually think there is probably a bit of legislation somewhere that means they have to provide release notes otherwise how do you know what you've got - if they changed something safety related and didn't tell you, I bet you'd have a decent basis for a claim, as how could you reasonably be expected to know otherwise. Hopefully they roll it out soon for us folk on this side of the pond. It will be a game changer when they do.

You hit the nail on the head with safety. If it was just iDrive and no safety or driving features...fine. However, if the driver's assistance and what not gets tweaked...I would like to know. Given the track record of software QC...I would be cautious. What is weird is they removed the 07/2019 release notes on the ConnectedDrive Portal. I am just a bit disappointed that they built into the price the cost of both the Remote Upgrades and Digital Key, yet nothing seems to be as advertised.

To my Android friends, it's just strange that we get CarPlay and you get Digital Key (Samsung only!) for now. However, in August...you will get Android Auto and Digital Key. Can us iPhoners anticipate Digital Key in August!?

Haha...that PANICK moments are really frustrating and well explained here. It just drives me nuts now most of the times with 7/2019.50 version I have.

I am planning to take it to the dealer to have it updated to 11/2019.40 for that ONLY reason. Otherwise, everything is just still shining.

What a true explanation!! trust me I have gone through it so many times now. I feel its time to take it back to the pit as I am on 07/2019.50

I just had Spotify show up as a standalone app last night. I swear it was not there before. I assume it is the Connected Music feature, since I deleted Spotify on my iPhone. I scanned a QR code, and logged in with my Spotify Premium account. Nothing about a subscription or whatever. Am I missing something? Feel like I will get a random $200 charge for something!
