Latest reported installed on the forum today is 11/2019.50

Latest per latest available ISTA+ and associated psdzdata files is 11/2019.55, but it is entirely likely that even most dealers don't have this version yet as of today.

Given that I will be picking up my January 20 production car tomorrow, what would you expect mine to have?

Completely random, but possibly not the 2018 versions :-). We've had 11/2019.50 reported from the factory a couple of days ago. But it depends on the build configuration: region, sub model, etc. 07/2019.xx or 11/2019.xx for any value of xx. You can ask your dealer to update before handing it over to you.

Your dealer should update its software at its initial prep. My dealer always does this.

Isnt one of the features to do Over the Air download and upgrade the software?
Is it really required to take the vehicle back to dealer? Or can we also not download on USB and upgrade it that way if over the air is not possible?

In a world where you purchased the vehicle under the impression this was included, like any rational person who had the same impression.

In the "real" BMW world. Nope. Currently, we are doing BATD updates, more commonly known as "Begging At The Dealer".

So, I should expect the latest version, 11/2019.50?

This is pathetic. BMWNA is way behind most other manufacturers with respect to software updates.

1/11 production date

came with 11/2019.50

I do not follow the changes enough to be able to spot differences between updates.

I went for oil service and asked them to update my july/.70 software to Nov 2019. They said unless issue with current software they won't do it.
When I went back to pick up x5, they said they 'enabled' my head unit to get remote updates. I was skeptical as nobody on forum ( in Canada or US) has been able to yet/ Sure enough, went to car and ' no updates found'

Oh well!

For those of us that have received the OTA here in the UK, it has been only to software version 07/2019.75. Note, this happened around 3 weeks ago, and there was some posts on here about it, myself included.

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1684555

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1682337

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1621261

So it seems likely that those on 07/xxx and 11/xxx would not receive the OTA update, as the posters were either on 11/2018.xx or 03/2019.xx.

As suggested, it seems like it was an n-1 approach - current version in dealers being 11/2019.xx, so we'll give you 07/2019.75 OTA as a 'Stable Option'. The update did obliterate the memory settings for the drivers seat/HUD, which was a bit of a pain since my wife has her profile linked to her key and ditto for myself and they were all gone. So that was an effort to set the seats back again and are still being tweaked......

Connected drive - you would have thought the settings were saved in this, but logging out and back in - still nothing 'saved' in the memory position, so not really sure how this is supposed to work? If it can actually do that or not, would be interested to here from others if it does and what they did to make sure settings are saved / available for this in future.

Me too — picking up tomorrow. Then off to a reputable shop for PPF and ceramic coat.

The only problem is the cars drive well. It's not very promising for my future purchases. You can say anything you want, but delivery is key. Maybe BMW will announce a flying X5 in 2022? You get wing access for 4 years, but by the time they figure out how the car will fly...you'll be at 5 years, you will need to pay $200 a month for the wings you already purchased.

How long does it take to do a sw update. I don't want the dealer to open the door, wire up and load during vehicle prep. I have already mentioned minimal interaction with the car for prep. Just removal of stickers.

Is this something we can do during paperwork and delivery? Or does the update take hours and hours. ?

They usually want the vehicle for close to a whole day for the update. I think it actually only takes a few hours if all goes well.

My first annual service took 4 hours and included a software update.

I had mine updated from 07/2019.47 to 11/2019.40 while I waited. Took about 2 hours including a wash and vac. Updates sometimes fail so dealers often like the vehicle for a whole day.
