FWIW, I was pretty nervous about doing it myself too -- last thing I wanted to do was brick my car -- but bimmercode is pretty easy to use and because there are only a couple options available right now for the G05 -- the last ASS setting being one of them, thankfully -- there is not much you can do to select the wrong setting. With a $30 bluetooth adapter and $26 for the bimmercode license, you can do it pretty easily. It takes about 5-10 minutes, and it's just like using any iPhone app. One note, I did get a chassis error during the coding, which freaked me out, but that's normal and it goes away right away.

I have never coded a car before so I need some reassurance. I ordered the OBD adapter and as soon as it arrives I will purchase Bimmercode. I have an Android phone. Can someone walk me through the procedure? Do I need to disconnect the Bluetooth on my phone and then reconnect after selecting the Bimmercode app on my phone? What is the next step? Thanks in advance. If you want to contact me through a PM that is fine as well but others on the forum may be Newbie like me and would also like some assistance.
Just looked at the Bimmercode website. Looks like A.S.S. coding is the only one available for the G05 at this time. Do I change the setting to Active or Not Active?

Android version now costs $34.99.

Success! Once I figured out that the vehicle doesn't tell you it's in Diagnostic mode all went smoothly. Now, I'm just waiting for Bimmercode to make more coding options available.

Weird, my G05 displays ‘DIAGNOSTIC MODE’ on the instrument cluster screen when I triple tap the start stop button.

I probably didn't see it because the coding worked. I was looking at the middle screen. Also I was pretty nervous.

Yeah it's a little scary the first time you do it for sure. I was nervous too!

When you bring your X5 in for service, do you reset the auto start/stop to factory settings (memory off)? Any risk this might trigger a warranty issue?

I had lots of things coded on my 2016 F10. Was serviced multiple times at the dealer with no issues without changing the coding. I do not think it's a warranty issue.

I tried the BimmerCode app and it said "preparing coding" for 20 minutes, so I stopped it. Figured something was wrong. For those that have used this app to code the ASS function on a G05, how long did it take after you pressed "Code"? Using OBDlink MS+. Thanks in advance

Either I am stupid or Bimmercode doesn't support the 1907.xx istep yet?

Bought a compatible dongle (initially I was using my old one which was not compatible with G-series per their website). Put car in diagnostic mode, but DME shows no coding available, so can't code ASS.

Anyone have any ideas? I am on 1907.40 FWIW.

Thanks.

BimmerCode had more options on /03 but with /07 it went to very few. I'm expecting it'll be a while until they update it...it was good for me because it pushed me over the edge and I love coding with esys now!

Are you using Esysx or launcher pro?

Launcher pro. Took little less than 2 weeks to get token and that was mid September.

I’ll try again with Esys. Were you able to code ASS memory on 1907.xx I step? Someone mentioned it locked out DME ECU.

With the latest PSdZData I was able to get into all ECU's, including DME for ASS

Be careful with DME. Don't code it with the engine running.

Esysx is a better product than Launcher Pro, but more expensive.

With esysx you can set coding that Launcher Pro users don't even know exist.

I was able to code ASS after my software update but many coding options that were previously available are now missing.

Thanks all. I'll give it a shot with Esys. I may get EsysX - cost is not a big deal, but how often do you have to buy an update? Every other major I-Step change? Like 1903 to 1907(free) to 1911 pay again?

Hi anuj452,

Please could you post the cheat codes you used with Esys to make those coding?

It was so annoying on my F10, i had it coded to disable by default...
I coded many other features in my F10. (some of which are now being offered through iDrive in G05). Here are some that I coded on my F10 using Esys

Auto Start-Stop function to start as last used
Auto Start-Stop OFF by default
Turn off power (radio and iDrive) when opening door
Unlock doors when engine is stopped (doors unlock linked to doors automatically locked by iDrive)
Enable key fob and driver side door handle to fold mirrors* and close windows and moon roof
Code the angle of the passenger side mirror when the car is put into reverse
Opening doors will not interrupt window roll up
Increasing sensitivity of the wipers, but not the speed
Transfer telephone ringtone to the car
Increase CIC stored addresses/messages from 25 to 50
Enable key fob and driver side door handle to close the trunk
Enable Pressure and Temperature Readings to the TPMS Screen
Disable iDrive legal disclaimer
Disable Rear and Side view camera legal disclaimer
A/C to remeber to stay off when you powered it off last time you turn off the car key
Enable Adaptive Brake Lights
