Production began!

I know people are probably like "I've seen this a million times" but I love all these impatient owners' threads about VIN assignment and production statuses. Well, here is mine! Production started and VIN has been assigned!

Yeah, mine has been there since before Christmas, but then the plant has been close since then as well. Things will start moving today.

Ours finished production on the 4th and it's already dispatched from the factory. Now the wait starts as it slowly makes it's way to Seattle.

If it is anything like it was a few months ago then the website is slow to update. I checked it 10x a day to see if it moved. When it did update it jumped several steps ahead. At the very end my service advisor was able tell me exactly when my car would be delivered. At around week 3 call your SA and see if they have a scheduled delivery date. Congrats!

Congrats! I doubt they have a GPS on the truck to show you the exact location, but that'd be very cool.

I already scheduled for the PCD for Feb 7th, but PCD emailed me and said specifically not to make travel arrange until 3 weeks prior so I haven't booked anything yet. I guess they want to make sure the car is built and passes quality control before making me commit.

My X6 has been in "Production Begins" since 12/16... to be completed 1/15. Several of the vehicles on this thread could be on the same line being assembled at the same time.

Does that make our cars siblings?

I have an X5 on order. Production 'began' on 12/17. Status is still unchanged.

Completion date is supposed to be 1/12. Let's see....

Last time I called they told me that there is something wrong with the system and it’s not providing updates. Mine started production 12/20 and is a 1/16 completion.

Also, does anyone remember the thread for the things to check at delivery? Someone created an excellent list recently and I can’t find it...thanks.

If something's wrong with the vehicle production status reporting system, then the customer relations people are complicit with the "something wrong" as they seem to always agree with the system results and they say that the BMW Genius's no longer have access to production status information.

Just called the automated Genius line and got an "estimated production completion date" of January 20th, there might be some backlog from the holidays because a couple of weeks ago the Genius (human this time) told me estimated start date was the 4th, which is accurate. MyGarage showed it "entered production" on the 4th, and I saw on another thread this is a bit misleading because it doesn't indicate assembly.

That seems to be pretty close to the PCD (February 7th) for them to complete on the 20th. I don't see that being an issue but kinda worries me about making travel arrangements. I know BMW tells customers not to book travel until 3 weeks out, but that'd put my date of booking at Jan 17th.

Today's reported Vehicle Production Status, for my vehicle, by source:

From customer relations (this AM) 1/15 completion
From customer relations (this PM) 1/11 completion
From dealer inquiry (this PM) 1/11 completion

Also... The customer relations person admitted, today, that there was a problem with the vehicle production status reporting system from the BMW website regarding its accuracy.

The PCD requires a minimum of two weeks from completed production to when you pick up the car. So your 1/20 to 2/7 seems right on track.
