vehicle off

When I go to the top of the idrive screen where the notifications etc are, if I scroll all the way to the right there is a "vehicle off" selection.

Is this selection any different than simply pressing the off button on the center console?

TIA

vehicle off turns everything off instantly. depending on your settings, press the start/stop button may only turn off the engine. you can set it to then turn the vehicle off by opening the door (assuming no passengers are left in the vehicle).

screen off is different again. vehicle off is only displayed when parked with handbrake on and ignition off.

Where is the setting to turn everything off? I leave my X5 at the airport for extended periods of time.

in the pull down menu on the far right when engine is off and parked. alternatively push up on the controller and then scroll to the right. same menu where notifications are but an option at the far right end. it only displays when engine is off and parked.

that said the vehicle should automatically turn off everythibg after you lock it. it seems to take about 2 minutes (i say this as my dash cam keeps recording for that long and is wired into a fuse).
