Inappropriate Poll Alert!

This is a completely inappropriate poll, and I know it -- but I am curious what the annual incomes (combined if married) are of the people actually purchasing a 2019 X5.

Regardless of options, the G05 is a very expensive vehicle (relatively speaking). I think a poll such as this is interesting as it can show, in some ways, how people value a vehicle such as this. Would be interesting if the poll let me include a corresponding model type when someone votes their income.

A loaded out Tahoe is $70k, Denali $80k, Escalade $90k+ and those SUV's are everywhere! Everything is expensive. Cars are a huge waste of money when you factor in depreciation. Most people finance a car 5-6 yrs and by the time it's paid off it's well out of warranty. We finance for 2yrs and trade every 4-5 years. With that route for us we still have a good chunk of equity to keep payments lower on the new car and we're able to pay off in 2 years. Not interested in leasing.

Was watching Dave Ramsy and recalled I saw this poll at some point so had to dig it up.

Really glad to see majority of buyers here make well more than the vehicle price. I think Ramsy's rule is total vehicle price should be less than 50% of annual income. There is no judgement either way, we all love BMW and that's why we're here

what is his advice for your overall household income if you intend on leasing? Dave would probably come to your house and light you on fire.

The G05 is a bargain in the US. I am always surprised that everybody is leasing/financing their cars. I just buy them and trade them in for a new one when I think the time is right.

For the 250K+ group, it is a bit shocking but everyone manages their finance differently.

All cars are bargains in US... even brands like RR/Bentley are significantly cheaper here.

Unless the right time is 5 years plus each time you trade it in, leasing is cheaper.

Isn't Dave Ramsey the financial guru for financially illiterate people? It works because it's simple.

I watch some of his stuff purely for entertainment value. But anyone with decent financial knowledge can do way better than what he preaches.

I'm not so sure about that... and this is just my opinion, but income and financial literacy do not necessarily go hand to hand. The majority of workers at my organization earn over six figures, but many of them don't have a deep understanding of 401k, retirement strategy, etc.

I'm not even a Dave Ramsey fan by any means so I'm not advocating for anyone to watch his video or buy into his belief.

Agreed, I'm not saying financial literacy is necessarily linked to income level. I'm saying if someone is financially illiterate, then his plan works because it's simple. But if someone IS financially literate, they can do much better than what he preaches, and in many cases following what he preaches can be holding them back.

I wonder how many of the $250k+ are dual incomes? Not that it makes a difference, just curious. I'm in the 200-250 range, but that is just on one income, I stay home with the kids.
