Rear badging M50i

Here's a unusual question. Would be interested in putting V8TT badge on the tailgate. The G05 has the split tailgate. with the lower section folding down toward the bumper. Hard to see, but is there enough of a gap between the folded down section & bumper for the emblem?

Don't..... those that know what it is, already know it's a V8tt.

Those that don't.... won't know what v8tt even means.

Why stick a $3 chinese badge on the back of a $90k car?

After you sell it..... and the next owner sells it...... and the owner after that.... and eventually, it will make it into the hands of a pimply-faced teenager.

Let him buy $3 chinese stick-on emblems..... not you.

I dont care for extra badges either but I have always had custom tags on all my vehicles and this one works on mine. The exhaust note is also a dead giveaway.

It's times like these where I start to ponder my privacy paranoia and consider toning down my driving style... I love your plate but that's way too recognizable!!

I live rural in a popular car enthusiast area and I run enough car events everyone know my rigs regardless. So far, the overwhelming experience with the BMW-V8TT plate has been positive. My dealer loves all my custom plates and will be using my cars for promotional reason. We are putting together a regular BMW dealership Cars and Coffee this summer.

I always have vehicle specific plates in my fleet. I have done this for decades. This particular BMW-V8TT plate came about last year when I first purchased my X5 and went on a 2200 mile family trip to Disney for 2 weeks. There was a Tesla SUV at the Grand Floridian that always would park next to my new X5 50i M-Sport. He parked next to me the entire time he was there. At that time I had my old plate on that was totally wrong with my new BMW. His Tesla plate read "NO-GAS4U". Ironically I had a TTV8 and at that time I knew I was choosing BMW-V8TT. In the days when everyone has a 4 cylinder TT or V6 in a large SUV, I am proud of BMW and their high performance choice of developing a V8TT. Now my X5 is a BMW magnet for all other BMW's seem to park around me even though I park way out at the end of the parking lot away from the dings and carts.

For example some of my others:

I hated the V8T badges on my Audi S6, every boy racer or big jacked up pickup truck I was next to tried to race me. If I had kept the S6, I would have removed it.

I happen to like the badging. Let's the uninitiated know what's under the hood in a world of mousy 4 bangers & small sixes.

To my original question - anybody tell me width of gap between
lowered tailgate & bumper?

That Looks tragic imo. Here in the UK, you'd be instantly labelled as a Chav (a fairly undesirable adolescent who tends to wear track suits from a specific area of the country) who had driven (crashed) his car into a Halfords (popular store nationwide selling tacky shit for cars)

It gets annoying, and some of the morons get aggressive to try and get you to race. By all means do what you want, but be prepared for all the douche nozzles to be attracted to your vehicle.

We lived in South Florida for 10 years and I believe that’s more a local cultural phenomenon. Think warm weather, palm trees, beaches, Don Johnson/Miami Vice, convertibles, sugar daddies. Having moved from DC area it was a culture shock.
Drive a hour west to Naples and it’s a different world.

Do you have your X5 yet? It may be a better idea to wait until you have your car so that you can: see how the badges currently look, decide on the best place to put additional badges (if you want), and then decide what needs to get measured (and it will likely be more precise than someone eyeballing it on a forum for you).

After getting my X5 I debadged most emblems (but then again I have the small six cylinder).

Don't have it yet. I am scheduled for week 9 production next month.
Think your right, will wait & make measurements. I have the badges so should be a easy project.

I left the forum for 24 hours and ......What the **#* happens to this thread...?????.
The OP was just looking for placement information. Someone tossed a stick of dynamite in the outhouse and now everyone has **#* on them and scared the newbies away.

This is why I am not a forum moderator anymore.
