Has anyone tried using a USB to ODB2 adapter?

I'm setting up my coding rig and it's coming from a Surface Pro. I only have USB ports, so I was looking at USB to ODB2 adapters, instead of a USB to Cat5 to Cat5 to ODB2 setup. This is a cleaner setup, but I don't want to run the risk of it not connecting to the car correctly. Does anyone have any experience with this?

This is what I had in mind.

Can't comment on whether that USB interface works for G05, but the separate Ethernet and USB interfaces approach is what I use and it gives great flexibility, for example to use Ethernet-Lightning adapter for Bimmercode (which makes Bimmercode lightning fast, no pun intended).

Great point. I may need to bend your ear soon for some Noob tips on coding. I've watched your transformation on the boards from Noob to Coding Jedi!

Happy to help. Not even close to a Jedi yet, maybe just Anakin at 3 years old, well before the dark side.

So did I just waste some money buying the ODBlink MX+ if it's faster to use the ENET cable with the lightning adapter?

The Bluetooth adapter is pretty convenient, something easy to carry in the glovebox in case you need some on-the-road coding. It can also be used for Bimmerlink and other ODBII software. I don't think it's a waste :-).

You can progress to baby yoda when you publish your first 'discovered' coding change that adds value

This is the actual one I bought in Canada: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07JKCZC1J/, but says "not available" now. Lots of similar choice on Amazon.com, such as: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SYH7PMW/ , https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VK8Q36S/ , and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DPLLLNT/
