03/2023.67

Just for info:-
I have updated my UK 2022 M50i to 03/2023.67 followed by re-coding ASS to 'remember last setting' with Bimmercode.
All went well and works as expected. Quite relieved!

Hang on, are you saying you now have 03/2023.67 installed and you still have the ability to code ASS off in any driving mode? ASS is permanently off? Because I read where this wasn't possible after X update (I don't recall which update it was).

Yes. 03/2023.67 installed and showing as such in 'settings'.
I have only tried in Comfort Mode as it is rare that I use anything else.
I was on 11/2022.60 and upgraded OTA to 03/2023.67.
The vehicle remembers my last setting via the ASS button on the next start up and the button switches ASS on and off as it should.
I had also read some of the posts that you mention and did the upgrade with 'fingers crossed'.
If you don't have the ASS button then things will be different.

Ah so, ok, yeah I don't have the ASS button in my '21. Let's see if others reply. Thanks for your reply.

Hi all,

I've just had the notification that update 03/2023.67 is now available for me to download.

Can I download it to and install it from my Samsung tablet instead of using my phone?

I've never bothered connecting my phone to my X5 and I don't want to either.

Regards.

I suspect that you will require the BMW App and be able to connect that to your vehicle with WiFi and Bluetooth. I'm sure that someone with the appropriate knowledge will chip in.

Hi guys,

Are you getting these notifications via iDrive or via the app out of curiosity? I have just booked my car in to get the OTA updates looked at as I have never had an update, my UK 2022 X5 came with and is still running 11/2021.50 and pretty sure I’m missing a good few new features and bug fixes!

Malvern, I’m pretty sure if you search for the updates in your iDrive then you can install it without having to connect your phone, not gospel of course as I have never had an update!

That will probably work. I know I can interact with my X5 via the app on my tablet, but have not tried to pair it with the vehicle via BT. It won't hurt to try, then let us know.

My notification arrived via iDrive which referred me to the app. The instructions were quite good overall. Still seems a complicated way of doing it to me though.

You get them both ways. For me, when I got into the car there was a msg on the screen notifying me of an update. I also received the same notice from the MyBMW app on my phone. You can either download it to the phone which I would think would be faster if you are in your local WiFi or you can let the car download it via its cellular connection, which will take more time. Either way, once its downloaded it then needs to be installed but you can follow the direction for this once in the car.

Garage List
Got my 03/2023.67 notification via the MyBMW app 3 days ago

Downloaded the update to my iphone via the MyBMW app, then connected the iphone to the car via bluetooth & wifi
Swift straight foreword upload to my X5

Then notified ready to unpack the upload & give it 20mins to sort itself out & not drive the car whilst it was doing so

After the software was installed it raised the air suspension to normal from load level, changed the rev counter display back to factory settings
& reset the mpg figures since last fill up
I haven't noticed any other changes it made

I haven't done any BimmerCode mods so no issues for me on that score

First one of these OTA uploads I've done with my X5
Can't say I've noticed any differences TBH

A few screenshots from the MyBMW.app & my iphone during the process

(Screenshots are from yesterday)

Notification on lock screen

Thank you Rik, Marty and Bristle, really appreciate the updates and details. Looks like I’ll keep the appointment with my dealer for now and cross my fingers I get one of the same updates either on the app or iDrive soon.

I wouldn’t be so fussed but I’ve read there is some updates to the lane departure that allows you to pull back in after overtaking without the LDW kicking in and trying to stop you! Also it addresses a software bug where access to the third row can throw a random error preventing access and getting the second row electric seats stuck in a loop.

Thank you again 👍🏼

LDW does not activate if you use your turn signals...

I had funny issue after update and full reset done automatically.

When I opened ANY door, I had image with everything opened ;-)

Full infotainment reset done manually made it back to normal.

Thanks Jad, aware of that but on a single lane road it seems pretty obvious where I need to place my car post overtake so I think it’s pointless to force you to signal

Not sure about England, but any change of lane in the USA is supposed to be preceded by the use of turn signals. While it may be obvious, it is also a courtesy to do that to alert anyone else on the road of your immediate intentions. Now, that doesn't mean people abide by that rule or if it really makes a difference if you're turning and there isn't a vehicle in sight, but habits mean you may not forget when it really could make a difference. The Germans tend to be rule abiding people, so something that enforces that doesn't seem out of character to me.

I find it really annoying when I'm trying to enter a roadway and the vehicle I'm waiting for to pass pulls in without signaling...habits of signaling intentions could help.

Talking

So my X5 FINALLY got the OTA update. It's this version - 03/2023.67. The app notified me and downloaded the update over Wi-fi, then notified me again to get into the car to perform the update.

So, I parked in the garage, navigated to the software update section under settings and saw that the update was being prepared. Took about 15 mins or so to go from 10% to 100%, then it was ready. It told me to initiate the upgrade, and then lock the car and leave as it would take about 20 mins or so. So I initiatied it, got out and locked the car but stayed in the garage to see how it went about doing the update. The car beeped and booped and made a variety of weird noises while the update was being performed. The lasers came on briefly, then went away. Finally, in about 15-20 mins, the app notified me that the update was successful.

Got into the car and saw that the instrument cluster was showing all doors, tailgate and the bonnet were open. No other issues or warnings of any sort, however. Started the car, and all was well and the door open image went away immediately. All of my previous settings specific to the BMW account were retained, but all updates made through Bimmercode were wiped out.

So, I turned off the engine, got out and got the ENET cable and connected it to the car and then plugged it into my iPhone. Put the car into diagnostic mode by pressing the start-stop button three times in quick succession, and started looking into the various modules. In what seems to be contrary to what others have experienced, I was able to get ALL my Bimmercode settings back to the way they were, including disabling Auto-Start-Stop! EDIT: Sorry, looks like I assumed too much. The Auto-Start-Stop has returned with a vengeance after the update. Even though the Bimmercode app says it's inactive, it kicks in when the vehicle is in any drive mode except Sport. When I took it for a short drive after that and I am pleased to report that every setting is back to the way I had it before the update, except A-S-S.

Driving experience was absolutely the same as before, no change whatsoever. I will be going out for a long-ish 4 hour drive tomorrow so will report back later if the changes mentioned in the blurb are actually noticeable.

I had the notification on my iDrive screen, the app on my phone and the app on both my tablets.

X5 now successfully updated but what a bloody faff it was. Surely BMW could come up with an easier way.

I ended up connecting my phone because whatever device I tried to connect to the iDrive it just wouldn't connect to WiFi. Is it supposed to connect to the iDrive WiFi or your home WiFi?

In the end I had to connect using my 5G mobile data ( UK members will know what I mean ) it took a 24 mile round trip to fully transfer the update from my phone to the car. After that it was a doddle to install it, I got a notification after around 15 minutes to say the latest version had been successfully installed.

The only changes I've noticed up to now are, although I've not driven the car yet, are...
The heater/fans were unsynced and I had to reset and save the steering wheel position.
