I-85 traffic is brutal with all of the commercial trucks, as this route goes between Atlanta and Charlotte, that you would have to give yourself at least 30 min drive to the PC. Lots of warehouses have been built in the upstate recently, as the SC Port Authority has the inland port in Greer, and BMW Manufacturing has more than 1,400 trucks per day exiting I-85 to SC-101. I recommend staying the night before at the Greenville Marriot, as that’s what I decided on.

Share your thoughts Ibiza. But I am still going but yes it's frustrating you don't get a discount on the shipping and handling. Kind of hurt when I was all pumped for going and my dealer later told me he just found out they stopped the hotel and dinner and x5 rides from the airport and hotel etc. I talked to someone at the Marriott that told me the woman in charge of all that had just retired and it appears the changes were related to her departure. The staff at the Marriott even misses it and said it was very well done including BMW logos on the menu and nice welcome packet. Made you feel important and special. Maybe we'll get a nice gift from BMW like I read about on another thread here....lol

I'll be there shortly, as I just stopped by this week for a "sneak peak" as I was driving through the area, had a wonderful conversion with the gentlemen who was prepping my car.

Initial pro tip: If you are booking the Grand Bohemian, be aware that there are two BMW rates. If you want the airport pickup, shuttle to BMW, breakfasts and complimentary valet parking, you must book the BMW Performance Center rate rather than the generic BMW rate. We found this out today the hard way, but the front desk manager sorted it out.

Thanks for the heads up ! I had already booked it using BMW code. Didn't see an option for a performance delivery code. Total price is $481.80 including taxes for two nights. Does that track with what you have? Suggestions on how to fix this for the right code or just wait until I get there?

On another note, I've tracked my production and Saturday morning it was still at item 2 waiting production scheduling. Yesterday morning, Monday, it completed all steps and showed "awaiting carrier assignment". What did they do, build a complete x5 over the weekend in two days???

Shovelhead75: The assembly process is very swift, once it starts.

I suggest you call the hotel and straighten it out. Ask for the front desk manager, Marcus Duckett, if necessary. They’re new at this. Tell ‘em you were told to book the BMW rate. With luck, they’ll switch you without additional cost.

Sounds like there was a problem with your tracking. You should have gone to 150 Production Begins about two weeks ago.

As mentioned, assembly is very quick. Takes less than a day, around four hours or so.

The 'customer' portal for status often isn't as up to date as what the dealer or BMW can view, unfortunately. No good reason why it couldn't be, but that's what appears to be the case.

First, some news. The PCD is resuming on-site deliveries of vehicles made overseas. Buyers need to have their sales associates look into it and schedule it well before production begins. Also, assembly-line tours are resuming, but - for now - must be booked through the Zentrum.

Now, back to our previously scheduled post.

- The Grand Bohemian in downtown Greenville truly is grand, even if it’s just beginning its association with BMW. Totally first class, guest-forward operation. A bit time-pressed in the morning, with breakfast starting at 6:30 and the ride needing to leave by 7:15. But it all worked out. Also, the PC cafe where complimentary lunch is served also provides coffee and quick breakfasts if needed.

- Traffic was fairly light and we were at the Performance Center in less than 30 minutes.

- The Performance Center Delivery is just a spectacular experience. Friendly, caring instructors, and the best, most complete introduction to your new vehicle that you’ll ever get anywhere.

We highly recommend.

So got a sucker punch today. Performance center told my dealer they put a “stop sale” on my x5 I was to pick up on 4 march. Dealer had no details other than it was a “remote parking “ issue and said it could be hardware or software but did not know . So I have to tell them if I still want to go to the perf center on 4 march and fly back home and wait for my car to be shipped here or just wait and reschedule everything . Not happy and hope it can be resolved nbut he said something happened to these cars over a 12 day production period.
Don’t know what to do at this point other than hope for a positive update on Monday. I have to tell them by COB Monday what I want to do. That’s messed up.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully they fix it soon. If you have a chance, check your VIN on the German technical action site and see if the stop sale shows and if it is 025318.

Very sorry to hear this. When we picked up our X6 two days ago, I detected no hint of this sort of thing. The PCD genius, who was quite sharp, even demonstrated the automatic parking feature (though not remote parking).

Seems to me you’d want to wait until the vehicle is deliverable and then reschedule the PCD. Given the circumstances, they’re likely to be motivated to squeeze you in asapest.
