With March 4 being more than two weeks away and with Shovelhead75’s vehicle being in the best possible place (the factory) for update or repair, I’m betting that the March 4 Performance Center delivery ultimately will proceed as originally scheduled. I recommend a full-court press on Monday for reliable info from the sales associate, sales manager and/or general manager. They have access to BMWNA that we’ll never have.

Isn't there still a $995 charge for delivery on the invoice for your new BMW? Seems to me BMW USA and/or Dealer are saving a bundle by you picking up at the plant. It still might be a nice experience but they should not have eliminated the plant tour.

Yes, that charge remains and is a bit annoying. But…during our PCD this past week, we had close contact with at least four BMW or contract employees, in each case for hours at a time. Plus the cleanest, sharpest dealer prep and vehicle-specific briefing we’ve ever encountered, fuel for multiple rounds along the tracks, lunch, snacks, etc. Given hourly wages, especially for driving instructors, the gap between all of that and $995 probably is not appreciably wide. (The plant tour has been reinstated, booked through the Zentrum).

I am sorry to hear and feel your pain. It happened to us last year. Actually we had two stop sales (second one within a day when the first one cleared).

You should have the option to have car delivered to your local dealer and still do performance center.

Or take a rain check and do it within a year.

We kept our date and while we were jealous at the end to see others in the showroom getting their car handed over in style, the PCD was an experience we wouldn’t want to have missed.
We still had a someone for us individually for more than hour to answer all our questions.

Good luck and hopefully it still works out.

Yes but the point is that the saved $995 for not having a carrier deliver the car to a dealer is offset by the expense to BMWNA of PCD costs.

To my understanding it’s not eliminated. It’s suspended during remodeling construction phase which should finish spring/summer this year. Thereafter it should resume.

the saga continues. This morning I check my garage, and find the status jumped from awaiting carrier assignment to "at the dealership", the next to last step!
Now am I to take that as all is well, the stop sale is resolved and its at the performance center waiting for me? Guess I'll find out when my CA calls me back. Fingers crossed

It means it is at the Performance Center but may not mean the Stop Sale has been cleared. Last we saw the solution would be software that may take a week or so to be issued. Although of course that info was not verified against anything else.

Shovelhead75, another option is to email the Performance Center. For all intents and purposes, that is now your dealership. The email address should be on the email confirmation you received. Be very specific about your name, production number and VIN, and about the decision you must make regarding the stop sale, the expected time of resolution and your travel plans. You will find that they go the extra mile to be helpful.

thanks Redhot ! good advice. I basically told my CA to do that today.
The factory was closed for the holiday but he talked to the perf center who pushed for me to make a decision. Only good news was the car is indeed at the PC, and that if I kept the date, they would still go over setting up my car with me, but I still might have to fly back without a car.
I'm an optimist, so to me having the car delivered to the PC meant it is for sure a software issue that can fixed anywhere, and by keeping the date and telling him to tell them I am committed to my plans financially might cause them to take car of mine sooner than later when they have a solution. The PC people worked today but had no info on the fix since it was a holiday. My guess is they are looking to free up appointments for a PC delivery for others without a stop sale. I put off the decision until tomorrow and insisted he get an update . Stay tuned !

Interesting Shovelhead75. My X5M was built 2-1-24, the day before the stop sale reported build dates of 2/2-8/24. It’s at the performance center as well. I completed / paid my dealer on Saturday and have my registration and tags. Performance center has already confirmed my PCD for next Tuesday. I would imagine if there was a stop none of that would have happened. Curious what you find out.

Type your vin in that site up a few threads and see if it says anything about yours. It either passed muster or slipped under the radar or something happened at the plant the day after yours was built? I wish bmw could give us an explanation

My vin is clear on both those sites. “There are no open safety-related recalls or technical improvements to this vehicle.” Must have just made it by a day.

No not yet. I’m getting ready to email the pc and ask why they are so mum about this and not giving us status updates. Mygarage says nothing about this only that it is at the dealer (performance center in my case).
I stand to
Lose a lot of money on paid travel arrangements and return flights have already doubled. You’d think a software update would be easy to fix and I’m going to ask why I can’t drive it home and they just update when ready. I’ll promise not to use remote parking (doubt I will anyway).
I did find out from my CA mine is the only sale they made that’s affected. Fingers still crossed they get it fixed before I fly down but I have to tell you this has all taken away my excitement for both my wife and I.
I mean I did due diligence and waited to see that the car was done before I booked all my trip, and was just waiting for the day to come when this hit .
Thanks for asking and I’ll update the board as I learn more.

I just now saw a post from evanseric that in the German site he has a new improvement code. So I just checked mine also and it changed to 0061380800. Up until yesterday it was STOP025318. Hopefully we’ll find out what that means but I’m encouraged the word STOP is gone !

Still waiting for confirmation but it seems like they now have a resolution for the Stop Sale so hopefully he gets some good news shortly.

Well mystery continues. My CA says his info still shows the stop sale and couldn’t explain my new code from the German bmw site

I really think an email to the PC, asking your detailed questions and requesting a call back is the way to go now. That’s the only way you’re going to get real-time info. You’re old news to your dealer. He already has your money.

It will continue to show the stop sale until the solution is applied. BMWNA may not have released the software/solution yet.

So redhot I sent the email to the pc. Got a nice call back but the stunning thing is no one knows about what the issue is with the stop sale. While talking she did finally see the change is the performance code and said it is showing as a “defect” but couldn’t tell me why bmw Germany dropped the STOP code. Everybody is just guessing it’s progress but can’t even tell you what the defect is. She promised to call back next Tuesday with an update but she said I cannot drive the car home from the perf center even though others had delivery before the stop went into affect. Said our govt won’t let me take it home. Guess you shouldn’t be able to use your iPhone until you put the latest iOS on it.
Kinda sad that no one at bmw can even tell me what the defect is. Stay tuned !

Disappointing news, but at least you found the primary source of information. I still think you have a good chance of having this resolved by the date of your trip.
