FWIW, whether you ultimately take delivery at the PC, or your local dealer, it still requires some work after it leaves the factory before it can be released. The delivery cost includes that work plus transportation which is an average across the market so that those living at the furthest corner of the country don’t get a huge increase, so, it appears they use their average cost…taking delivery at the PC helps others keep the delivery fee down…doesn’t help you, but also means they can use a single suggested retail price all across the country.

PCD is way down this year with plenty of availability, should be fairly easy to secure an other delivery date.
Thanks all for the feedback for the Grand Bohemian, as I will stay there next spring for my M4 PCD now that European built cars can be PCD. I will post my 12th PCD review shortly, stay tuned…..

Murphys law. Just trying his best to take away our excitement.
Called the grand bohemian as instructed to give them our flight arrival on Saturday as instructed only to find out my rate is not valid for $219 a night but it’s $360 per night! Manager was not the least bit helpful and tried to tell me I get breakfast and ride from the airport and ride to performance center for that. Told him I thought that was what I was getting and his employee told me I was when I booked. Said I’m not the first one and he wasn’t budging to make it right. So don’t use the bmw corp code on the website. There is a different one for performance center not showing. Someon on here had the same problem . Redhot? Anyway be aware ! Looks like not staying at the bohemian now and wife is not happy. |

Yes, I had the same problem, but the front-desk manager fixed it. Who was the manager with whom you spoke? If it wasn’t Marcus Duckett, call back and speak only with him. Tell him you know he made it right for another BMW guest two weeks ago.

I guess one option is to keep the lower BMW rate and use Uber from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the PC.

I’m grateful for the information you guys have provided in this thread. I’m doing PCD the end of March, yesterday F1 status was still 150 with “Production Date” of 3/11.
As for the hotel, since my GF will not be joining me on this adventure I would be content with Hampton Inn and although it looks very close to both the airport and PC I doubt it would be possible to get a shuttle from the Hampton? Am I correct that the Marriott is the least expensive option with both an airport shuttle and a shuttle to the PC? Thanks again.

Yes, I believe that is the case, but call the Greenville Marriott to be absolutely sure and to confirm the proper rate. Also, read the Google reviews. That property apparently has gone downhill, but if it's just you...it's probably good enough. In any case, enjoy the PC process. It makes for a heckuva fine day.

They didn’t have any King bed rooms available for my night (I’m 6’2”) but I’ll be fine with a queen. Since neither the email from BMW or the reservation page addressed the airport or PC shuttle I called and talked with Grace this morning and confirmed both shuttle services are available from them. She did make my shuttle reservations but she said she will call a few days before my delivery to confirm nothing has changed with my reservation. I did see this morning that my actual production date moved from 3/11 to 3/8 (Monday to Friday) but hopefully they won’t change my PCD date. (I think I’d rather it be built on a Friday than a Monday anyway!) Thanks for all the help guys.

OK, we're home with the new baby and what an awesome car and a beautiful drive thru the blue ridge mountains. Let me start this trip report by saying, if you are on the fence about going to the performance center or don't think you need to, DO IT! You will not be disappointed. The day went all too fast and I could have stayed a lot longer even if it was just to chat with team BMW. What a great bunch of folks !
So we flew early Saturday morning into Greenville. What a nice clean low stress airport. Took an Uber downtown for about $32 to the Grand Bohemian. Staff at the Bohemian are the best, true examples of super customer service. Let us check in early with a room with balcony looking over the Reedy River Falls! Nicest hotel I've ever been at in the USA. Jasmin and the rest of the staff are simply awesome. Downtown Greenville is an amazing foodie city with beautiful places to walk. Parts remind me of San Antonio riverwalk without the crowds. Took an Uber early Monday morning to the Performance Center where we were greeted and given breakfast. Saw the car first thing in its own showroom out front which was cool. Met all the staff, all were super warm and friendly and expert drivers/instructors. After a short briefing, went directly to the cars, just like the one you purchased. Straight out to the brake course where you wind up running the car up to 60mph then hit the brakes as hard as you can to demonstrate the control, no skidding , and stopping on a dime. Next was the wet track and amazing fun doing a 360 a couple times before running it with DSC. I tried like hell to make it break contact and felt like it would with squealing tires, but I never lost it. I love how they make you drive aggressively !. Next was the track and obstacle course which was total blast and feeling how secure the car was. Then the AWD course getting up on two wheels was very awesome. Couldn't even see over the hood at times, but it was great. Lunchtime...full amazing kitchen with ribeye cheese steak sandwiches. Next its time to meet your car and do all the app and ID setup and genius stuff. I could have spent hours there. Special shout out to Kelly, Doug, Stan and Seth who stayed later than normal. Truly kind , patient and professional people. Southern hospitality for sure with Bavarian twist. Ha, even the toilets in the center are German (if you've been or lived in Germany, you know what I mean). Only thing missing was the beer ! I still have an entire list of questions to run by folks, but the nice long drive thru the Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains back home gave us plenty of time to try things out and learn the car. I have never had a car this nice, its fantastic. Thanks for all the support here on the forum as well. You guys are known at the performance center by the way...in a good way ! |
