Garage List
20s vs 21/22

Anyone bend their oem rims on the x5/x6?

The 20s looks like they come with enough rubber not to bend, but the 22s looks like it has very slim tires...

Trying to see which size to pick.

Also keep in mind mind that since you are in NJ, assuming your location is correct, you will need to buy at least another set of tires, likely also wheels, since the 21/22's only come with summer tires.

We have a set off BBS 22s on our F15 X5 and never had an issue. I would assume the same outcome on BMW factory as that's what we spec'd on our incoming G05 X5.

In saying that. I'm sure that the 20s would absolutely be more forgiving than 22s all around. They just look so damn good though.

All of the OEM choices are essentially the same OD, so are interchangeable, depending on the brake options where with some brake calipers, the smallest wheel may not fit. So, it’s a personal choice. My feeling…I can’t see them while driving, and pretty much ignore them when walking up to it, and when it comes time for replacements, the smaller rims’ tires are less expensive, too. For most people, any handling differences are not an issue, and the brakes on any version with any brakes can activate the ABS which is an indicator of tire grip loss…not braking capacity.

My last X5 (f15 35d) came with the staggered 20’s. Loved the look and handling. Then I went a bought a set of the standard 19’s to use as winter tires. Yes the ultimate handling wasn’t there but the X5 drove so much nicer. Much quieter, didn’t like to wander around on road imperfections etc. I just got a CPO Dravit Gray 23 M50i Msport. It has the standard 20’s on it and is fine. I keep catching myself looking at a set of “summer wheels” NO! I have to learn to leave it alone. 😜

It's beautiful as is but....a nice set of 21's or 22's would really be nice! LOL. Always easier to spend someone else's money lol.

All kidding aside. Beautiful vehicles.
