driver assist view not working
Hello All,
I have a BMW X5 G05 45e from Jan this year. In Thailand you do not buy BMW packages, but the local stealer pre configures what they think you want, there is no option to add on top of this. However that being said the documentation of my model in Thailand states my car has driver assist, and I can confirm that it has adaptive cruise control. However I see no option for lane change assist, nor do I get the driver assist view. I therefore used BimmerCode to turn on driver assist view (4 settings under Instrument Cluster/KOMBI) being: CB_FZG_UMBEGUNG_FAS CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMBEGUNG PIA_FZG_UMBEGUNG_FAS SICHT_ABSICHT_ENABLE this brought up the option to show it when enabled, however it does not show anything. I have tried forcing the dashboard cluster to driver assist and it also shows nothing. Lane assist I expected to be disabled, however with BimmerCode I cannot code the SAS module but have turned on BDC: SPURWECHSEL_ASSITENT HU_MGU: SPURWECHSELASSISTENT and can see the option in the menu, including being able to select/deselect the option. Any help appreciated to get this working. thanks Andrew |

I think you will need to use bimmerutility to change SAS:

Hmm, the plot thickens, the stealer said the driver assist package is on, BMW Thailand say it is not and doesn't have the required hardware. How to tell???
It has adaptive cruise control including braking and stopping and distance control lane departure warning and correction Assisted parking (self parking so I know it can steer) all round cameras but these may not constitute assisted driving. I have reset the i-drive (holding the volume button in for 30 secs or so until i-drive powers off), doesn't seem to make any difference but not tried on a motorway yet |

Totally confused as the documentation states this is standard on all G05s.
Driving Assistant Professional, incl. Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Cross traffic warning on the front & rear, Steering & Lane Control Assistant, Lane keeping assistant with Side Collision Warning, Lane Change Assistant, Crossroads warning and Evasion Aid |

Ok finally got to the bottom, kind of.
The dealer is stating it is installed and their documentation shows that its should be there, sales rep was adamant its installed..... but BMW Thailand stating its not there and the steering wheel layout indicates that its just plain old cruise control with stop and go. So someone is wrong, and it isn't me as I thought it was there and was informed as such. so I guess that this is down to how BMW Thailand pre-package and sell a specific spec including options that they are not that clear about so I may have a fight on my hands. wish me luck as I speak top the dealer tomorrow.... |

You may have already done all of this, but the below directions are from the USA Owner's Manual:
Functional requirements ▷ The functional requirements of the Steering Assistant are fulfilled. Functional requirements, refer to page 246. ▷ Driving on a road without pedestrians or cyclists and with physical barriers to oncoming traffic, such as crash barriers. ▷ Lane boundaries have been detected. ▷ Maximum speed approx. 110 mph, 180 km/h. ▷ The minimum speed is country-specific. ▷ The function must be available in the country in which the vehicle is driven. Switch lane change assist on/off 1. "CAR" 2. "Settings" 3. "Driver Assistance" 4. If necessary, "Driving" 5. "Steering Assistance" 6. "Automatic Lane Change" Changing lanes 1. Ensure that the traffic situation permits changing lanes. 2. Press the turn signal lever in the required direction to the pressure point for signaling briefly. You can download the Owner's Manual in the USA from BMWUSA.com. I would think you could also down load one from BMW Thailand. You can also run a VIN decode using https://www.mdecoder.com/ to see which options/packages you have.

Well that has been a journey and finally found a good article that explains it all, so for me I will revert the codes back to standard and stick with ACC. This wasn’t clear at all…….
