2020-03-28 Update

With PCD cancelled, my X5 has been dispatched and arrived at the dealership as of yesterday. I will have to arrange to have it shipped to me. The dealership is currently closed (NJ dealer) and I don't know when they will reopen. So the wait continues...

The ordering process this time around is just getting weirder... First my PCD order was shipped to dealer; Then my second PCD order was canceled due to COVID-19, so my X5 went to the dealer again; Now I'm ready to finalize the paperwork and have got shipper ready, the dealer is MIA for this entire week... I literally tried all the contact methods on dealer website and got voicemail only and no callback. My broker is as puzzled as I am as our salesman apparently has his phone turned off.

I hope everyone is ok and safe, but surprised that I cannot reach a single salesperson in the dealership... On the side note the X5 just showed up in my Connected account...

2020-04-10 Update:

Finally got in touch with our salesperson. Ran the numbers again and was told PenFed rebate is type G not J thus not stackable... Fine, I will let it go. I sent over my DL and insurance, waited impatiently for a day and half, finally got a msg this afternoon that "per dealership policy, they are not allowed to send paperwork out of state for the next two weeks"...

I really try to sympathize but cannot figure out why such constraint. I can understand the dealership is short-staffed and things are extremely slow, but no mail out of state?

This happened to me as well. I ordered vehicle from dealership in Silver Spring, Maryland for PCD this week or early next. I received an email from PCD around a month ago explaining the temporary PCD closure, issuing a voucher for a future visit (which I will absolutely enjoy) and noting the car was shipped to the dealership I ordered from. The dealership, specifically my SA, has graciously offered to ship the vehicle anywhere I needed, I live in and will have it delivered to Atlanta, with no expense to me (I wonder if the PCD is subsidizing some of these shipping costs based on the number of cars that will need to be delivered after showing up a dealerships across the nation).

All that to say, maybe some pushback on the dealership expectation that you make arrangements to ship your own vehicle may lead to a compromise or them picking up the entire expense.

BTW- Your build is very NICE!!! I went with Carbon Black and Black wheels for my M50i but alas am second guessing the color, considering how nice this build looks, and wheels (for same reasons you changed your wheel selection; less spokes to clean!)

Ah it's great your dealer offers to do that. Mine has been pretty adamant saying they have given me deep discount on the car so unable to cover any shipping cost...

Thanks My first build X5 is still listed on dealer website. Good luck to them selling a X5 M50i with 100K+ MSRP

If not for Tanzanite, I probably will go with Carbon Black. I had that color on a 2010 550i and really liked it despite the maintenance part of it. Nowadays with PPF and ceramic coating it shouldn't be that bad to keep it clean.

2020-05-01 Update:

I have to admit this is the most dramatic ordering process I've ever experienced. Let me explain...

I haven't heard from the dealer or broker for 2-3 weeks, which aligns with the previous statement that "no paperwork for out-of-state order for 2 more weeks". I wasn't in a hurry so it's ok.

One small thing happened: I noticed the X5 was removed from my Connected account a few days ago. A little odd but I didn't give it too much thought.

Yesterday, got a call from my broker. He told me my car is SOLD to a different customer!!! Somehow a manager at the dealership learned about the deal and was not ok with it. Without anybody telling me anything, they decided to sell my car (likely with less discount). Apparently it's more important to get the extra few dollars profit, then keeping a promise... I didn't have deposit down at the dealer so don't think there's anything I can do.

Later I learned, it's all started on the day when I was desperately looking for my salesperson to finalize the paperwork. A different salesperson reached out to me and offered to help. Without too much thinking I just gave him/her the details but he/she never came back to me. Apparently that sales is not in the same "team" as my broker and his sales, and reports to a different manager. So this manager decided they are not going to honor the deal. My salesperson is pissed, my broker is pissed (since his deals are now on the surface), and I am pissed too. How ironic!

Kinda feel bad for my broker who has been pretty responsive. But I am not sorry. How do I know the deal is supposed to be top secret? Super mad at the dealership, for sure they won't see me as a customer anymore.

Long story short, my X5 M50i order started on 12/31/2019 and ended on 4/30/2020. And I still don't have a car. I'm now talking to a few dealers nearby on X5M instead, just because I'm upset and want to burn some $$$...

Wow that is insane..... I thought i had it bad waiting since March.

Theres a ton of X5M's sitting on the lots and port. I don't think they are moving during this crisis. Brokers told me he can do 10% off one if i was interested. The NJ dealer (openroad) I was working with told me they could do 8% off. I almost did but the price difference on a full loaded X5M at 124K is just too big of a difference compared to the M50i. Not sure its worth that much more money at the end of the day so I didn't pull the trigger. It was very tempting simply due to the marina bay blue color which I absolutely adore....

Thanks. I thought I had been being very very patient... The second build arrived at the dealer near the end of March. So essentially took them more than a month just to do paperwork...

I just signed a deal for an X5M from a different dealer. Took less than 2 days in total, and I will pick it up next weekend. Quite a contrast.

Just to put a closure on this thread... I picked up this beauty yesterday, in and out of the dealership in less than an hour!

Don't have more photos right now except these two taken at the dealership. After 5-hour drive she desperately needs a wash
