Meh, I use the fob and key card as a spare. The phone works but not nearly as reliable or as fast as the fob. The fob also has the emergency hard key hidden. I never take the fob out of my pocket and don’t find tapping the doorhandle with the phone that efficient.

I would use the fob if I didn't have plus, the whole point of keyless entry is walking up, getting a free unlock, and hopping in.

If you have to take something out of your pocket and use it to interact with the car, you're back where we started with keys. Doesn't make much sense without the plus.

I'm skeptical that there are different fobs for the different LCI variants (perhaps for the full-M models). Saying it feels "light", "cheap" or "heavy" is very subjective. For my M60i, it feels light and cheap, but it does what it's supposed to do when I need it so all good. If I were carrying it regularly, I think I prefer something lighter in my pocket (I don't, however, I use DK+). On that topic, DK+ works nearly all the time, but I've had to reboot my phone (iphone 15 pro) a few times to get it working. Seems to happen after the wifey has used the car with either a fob or DK (not plus) on an Android phone. I'll continue to monitor to see if there's a repeatable pattern.

Mine (X5M) is on the heavy side of fobs: At a guess, twice the weight of a Porsche fob and roughly the same weight as the S Class fob. It's noticabely heavier than plastic one that is on a SixT X3 rental for example.

It feels like it's weighted, you would know if you had it.

@BMPHIL I can run through steps to prevent your phone from killing wallet in the background if you haven't already done it; if you have I've got no ideas.

No expert so not sure what you mean, I can open, close and start car
car with phone but have to put it against handle, also have to put password in samsung wallet which would defeat the object of it working in your pocket.
Only option in digital key in samsung wallet is to also put password on
digital key area after I have already accessed samsung wallet with it!.

If you have plus you should not have to do anything in Google Wallet, you simply need that android not shut it down in the background. But you need Google wallet, not Samsung. Can you install Google wallet in the UK or are you stuck with Samsung?

Have deleted samswung wallet and added google wallet but no section to add digital key in google. Digital key has deleted, will see if I can add it tomorrow.

You have to remove the key from Samsung and the car if yours is the primary. Once it's gone you will need to do the original procedure where you take both fobs in the car and all that. Google wallet does not show a key section or have any menu options, when you create a key it then shows that key in the wallet and you click it to interact with it.

You may have to force close or disable Samsung wallet if it tries to grab the key when you create it. Link for that...

Have been googling and I don't believe the S23 supports UWB hence no digital key PLUS, s23+ and s23 ultra have UWB.

Samsung wallet was what I tried before and doesn't allow approach/leave locking on my galaxy s23, believe it only works on + and ultra as they have UWB.
