Assisted Driving View in Action on 2020 BMW M50i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here are a couple videos of Assisted Drive View in action. It's pretty awesome that it can determine the vehicle type and display it in the cluster. (Small Car / Tractor Trailer / Motorcycle). Also notice the indicators when you are not touching the steering wheel.

Would really like to know about this on a 2019. Sucks that there's no way to ask the devs if it's coming. CA/SA/Genius all just guess at literally everything.

What is your software version on the 2020?

Also, as asked in a previous thread, how do you get to this view in your settings?

While this feature might finally push me to put together a list for coding, is there no hope that a future app update will get these for us? Or is this one way to make 2020 a little different and never available for the '19 from BMW?

In my case, it was not a firmware update but my dealer installed Experience Mode and Caring Car which should have come through the regular app dates.

My care had Experience Mode and Caring Car already installed on it when I picked it up.

If anyone with the feature active can provide their FA and all ecu cafd's, I'll take a look and see if it can be coded.

Edit: coding details here https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1650202

It works really well when you have route guidance going, as well as adjust manually for speed limits, legit you just drive by hitting set every once in a while, it slows for turns, you can you lane change assist to get into the turning lane.
It's pretty darn cool.

I like the graphics but I don't really see a practical use for it.

My attention is always on the HUD which show's the key assist info like if a car has been detected in front, if auto lane changing is active, auto speed limit adoption, when a new auto speed change is about to occur etc.

What would be cool is if the HUD assist display was expanded to include the assisted view info instead.

This is awesome.

Is this for all iDrive 7 cars equipped with driving assistance or only those with the newer driving assistance tech, ie. Not the 2020 5 series.

If BMW makes it a video game where we can blow up the other cars, then it'll be useful (or entertaining). Otherwise, maybe it will be useful in foggy conditions (but likely the camera won't see/identify the cars in front). Otherwise, just fluff.

They're clearly testing user reactions by adding this.

I should clarify, I love using the assist feature. The assisted view is just another benefit.

Damn. I hope the day doesn’t come when technology will bypass our decisions and lock us out during driving.

It seems to be just a different animation to what I have on my g30 when you initiate changing lane when you have lane assist on.

So unless I'm missing something nothing new here ( although I'm aware that some markets don't have this change lane assist functionality enabled for presumably regulatory reasons. In the uk this was enabled on g30s from July 2017 onwards.
