G05 & E53 X5 Photos

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just read the Jalopnik review of the new X5 and boy do they have some great photos. They mostly have the 40i in Phytonic Blue but they have a few in Alpine White, and even some photos with the original E53 4.8 X5. Here's some below. https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-bmw-x5...now-1828985894

Their photog game has really stepped up in recent years. Their IG account is worth following too, even if just for the photos.

The last pic really makes the new grill look out of place, I don't hate the design, the worst part is really the merging of the 2 parts and its a little too big..

OG looks so much better.
New one looks pedestrian, generic.

Audi has the "Easy Bake Oven" front grill., BMW has the "Twin Easy Bake". Honorable mention goes to Lexus' Accordion style which takes the cake. Bigger not always better folks.

Agreed that E53 still looks good... just without the headlight washers

Would you consider them useful? I found it more messy than purposeful.

Agreed. But they do come with them if you get the package that includes it. Not sure which one it is probably the one with rear heated seats Or something. But as usual I'm sure they can be coded to be turned off easily enough.

Driving in the snow belt and if behind truck or other traffic, they shoot up a lot of road grime and road salt and it gets caked in the front of the car. These high pressure washers clean the headlights on the go. I found them very useful numerous times without having to stop to clean the headlights that get dull because of layers of dirt and salt on a long journey. Also useful when going off road and back roads which we do.

I thought it was because LED headlights do not get as hot therefore they dont warm the headlight covering in which snow sticks to. Therefore they are not needed for the newer lights

On a longer trip i would usually wipe the headlights anyways when stopping at rest stops for refueling, etc..

That is why Volvo uses heated water jets to wash the led headlights. I think it is a must have in Scandinavian countries.

Sometimes I look out the window at my TI silver E53 and think, wow those lines still look good 13 years later!

The grille on the new one just grosses me out. Agree that the E53 design was terrific, but I like our E70, too. But this one . . . Bugs Bunny would love it, I guess. We're going to have to get a new X sooner or later, and right now I'm leaning to the X3, which is about as big in its current incarnation as the original E53 X5.

Yes, a must have hare, unless you keep a 5s distance to the car in front of you, your windscreen and headlights needs a wash every 15min, and also BMW provides heated jets as standard here. Also we use an alcohol mix to avoid the liquid to freeze.

If the E53 isn't considered timeless I don't know what is!

Meanwhile, the E70 still looks like it could sit in a showroom today and outsell it's competition.

At the time when I needed a SUV the E53 was really fine.
The same bright and wide interior feeling that I loved in this car I have now in the i3.
When I look at the back of the new Gen X5 every time I have to double check the manufactures sign if it's not an Audi or Volkswagen, due to the backlight design.
