Have you had the opportunity to compare the sound of the B&W directly to the Harmon Kardon system?

A little off topic.... but your SA should give you a production number that you can use on the bmw website. They should also be able to tell you the production week.

Not in the X5M, but I believe my 2018 M4 Comp had an HK and I thought it was great. Lots of butt thump even with the top down going 80mph ... the B&W can't do that in a parking lot with the windows up & the engine off.

Anyone really familiar with headphones will know the difference between, say, Mr Speakers (Dan Clark Audio) Ether tuning and ZMF Eikons ... Ethers/Aeons are "neutral" which some people really like, but it's a preference thing. I like sub-bass thump of the Eikons vs ZMF's Atticus which are mid-bass heavy at the expense of the sub-bass.

Vocal clarity & detail is farther down my list, but I get the sense that's what this B&W is going for ... which is a shame because B&W's original P7W headphones were tuned awesome. I was kinda hoping for that.

One interesting thing I've been playing with lately is the effect of the DSP in my iPhone on the output of the music. Forever, the output of the music - from a CD or USB or Spotify - was only processed by the radio. One could adjust the EQs in one place and one place only. Now that I'm listening to Apple's Lossless audio more, it has its own DSP that shapes the sound prior to the radio's EQ. Now that I've gotten used to it, I've found that I can really enhance certain bandwidths when I combine it with my radio's DSP and EQ.

I don't have a B&W system yet (hence the reason for starting this thread), but I feel like that system will reward patience. Very few things sound great out of the box - especially with so many compressed forms of audio. I hope that more (near) lossless sources of audio become more readily available and I'm able to tune it to my satisfaction.

Now that I've hijacked my own thread... I appreciate any and all updates from anyone who has ordered or received a B&W system in an X5/X6.

How did you find out about gaining the wireless charging? Are you just refreshing the "My Garage" page to see if new things show up, or is there a notification about something be added or removed?

Mine is currently at "Production Begins" stage. Are you doing anything other than scrolling down to the installed options section to confirm/re-confirm what is making it into the build?

I took screenshots of my option lists when the touchscreen fiasco was occurring so that I could see if I lost any options. When my vehicle moved into the "Scheduled for Production" stage (for the fourth time), I did a quick comparison of my screenshots and the list in My Garage. To my surprise, in the Standard Features section, I no longer had Enhanced B/T and Smartphone In (code 6NS). It was replaced with Wireless Charging (code 6NW). Wireless Charging wasn't even on my initial order form.

Check your Standard Features section and see if either of these is listed.

As for tracking, I started my own spreadsheet to track what is on the car at each stage of production to see if and when things drop or add.

When I scroll down to the Standard Features section I am seeing the enhanced B/T and Smartphone In, but it isn't showing the codes. Are you pulling those from somewhere else?

Thanks very much, I was able to get a look at it. Looks like I have no wireless charging in mine, but seems like I don't have the 06UY that people were mentioning about the touch screen. What a time to be alive and order cars!

only way to find out is to have your dealer try to order it - rumor is it may be available in January

I suppose that sheds some light on the delay of my X5. I'm in the UK and I ordered a fully loaded X5 40 with B&W and a bunch of packages. Order was placed in July 2021. I got a 112 status and a build week of 47. Waited all that time and on Wk 47 it jumped to week 2 2022. Now its gone back to 111 status and a build date of week 10 (March). Dealer has no info - i probably know more than him by reading this site! Needless I'm very disappointed not to have my car yet.

I received my X5 M50i with B&W! It was ordered in July.

There is a recent YouTube video of a dealer showing off an M50i with a B&W and he said it came with one because it was ordered prior to Sept 1. I don't know if there is truth to that, but that is his claim.

With that in mind, I'd guess that you likely can't order a vehicle with B&W, but if you ordered 4-5+ months ago, there is still hope that it will arrive as ordered.

Yes, around Sep 1, BMW removed B&W from the ordering system. If the car was specced prior to that date with B&W it stuck on the production. And that's probably my video. Those vehicles were individual colors and were thus delayed a bit to build.

We've also got an M8 Convertible (stuck at plant Dingolfing) ordered in July with B&W

And how do I know what number week my car is scheduled for production?

I have a production number and online status is now showing “Scheduled for production” but it doesn’t say when or which week?
