IDrive took a dump....

I have the latest July 2021 OTA update on my X6 and up until today I have not had too many issues.

The first symptom something was wrong is that Spotify wasn't working at all. No libraries, no history and unable to search. At least I was in my driver profile. Switch to later on tonight and now I am stuck in guest and can't switch to my driver profile. ALL of my seat and button settings are lost as well.

I'm not going to reset or delete anything until I discuss with the dealership. Just in case this shit starts happening randomly more than once I can at least document when it started. Most likely it's a software issue, but there's always a possibility some module went bad too.

Have you done a reboot? Hold down mute button for 20 seconds.

If issues still occur, sure it could be the software/firmware related. Could also be a bad hard disk.

A couple of days ago my Spotify disappeared and was not selectable in iDrive though it was in Android Auto. After a drive or two it returned but would not activate until the QR code was scanned which had to be done in Park. This could have been tied into the new News media option.

Or you could select MANUAL and enter your Spotify email/password on the iDrive to login. It happened to me last week and after fiddling with the QR code, I chose the manual method. Been working ever since w/out any interruptions.

Yes, the QR worked instantly and Spotify has been solid since then.

Strangely enough, today everything was working normally again. My profile logged in, spotify worked and all buttons did what I programmed.

I've heard something about the car going to deep sleep overnight when locked, and how that sometimes helps with general issues. Maybe that applies here.

My problem was the car would refuse to charge after getting an OTA update while plugged in. Went away overnight.

The issue with IDrive not loading my profile came back again on Friday. I took it to the dealership and they did a head unit reset. So it's back working again for now.

Today, Spotify wasn't working again. Every spotify menu entry is empty and search doesn't work. Stopping the vehicle and restarting has no effect. My driver profile was loading though. I will go for a spin tonight and see how things are going.

I've learned to just accept that the Spotify app in iDrive isn't good. Like others I got signed out last week, and it constantly loses my music and search history.

I prefer the iDrive version of Spotify but the AA version is a bit more reliable.

Yep exactly, I like how it's laid out in the iDrive version, just wish it wasn't so buggy.

I had Spotify disappear from Media options yesterday. Looks like the updated News App had displaced it from the list. Today I unchecked the News app for the options list and Spotify came back.
