Just picked up my X5 M50i, no adaptive button. I was wondering if I missed something during the build. Apparently not..

Equipment Deleted All Over the Place

I just picked up a 2022 X5 M50i in the Canadian market. Despite paying for the premium enhanced package, the following items are not included with the car.

No heated cooled cup holders
No wifi hotspot
No wireless phone charger
No gesture control
No universal (homelink) garage door opener.
No adaptive mode

There are the deletions I have stumbled across so far. I have only been living with the car for 13 days.

DHP

WiFi hotspot
Gesture control
Laser light is optional extra
Wheels price changed….

All the above can be attributed to chip shortages, but taking away a software driving mode doesn't make whole lot of sense.

Heated and cooled cup holders are also missing from MY21, at least in the US. Not actually sure about Canada.

I will also say that I've found gesture control to be useless. It was the first thing I turned off in the car.

There have also been posts about how the levers in the cargo area to lower the back seats are missing in MY22. Do you have those?

That's a new one I haven't read before. Seems like an incredibly standard feature for them to remove.

But then again the X3s the standard wheels are no longer available.

What does the adaptive button do?
I have it on my 2020 X5 but never used it. I have air suspension.

I'm the opposite. while my car waits to get worked up for the recall, I've been in a loaner for 3 weeks and find myself using gesture control to change stations/music tracks when it doesn't have that feature.

I doubt that the majority of X5 consumer owners ever drive in any other DDC modes beyond Comfort unless by accident LOL.

Would be interesting to see of they remove it on X7 40i without or with DHP since 2VS Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview is included and Adaptive driving mode is a integral to the predictive control of the Electronic Damper Control (EDC) as well as the electric active stabilizers (EARSV).
it's definitely been removed

I have a MY 2022 40i and I have the levers to electronically fold up/fold down the second row in the trunk. I also have the adaptive drive button. Adding the third row option seems to maintain these features along with air suspension. I don't even use the third row but IMO it was worth adding it to get the air suspension. This was a late August build.

I have a 10/21 build, in Canada as well. The homelink is a separate option for MY22.

I have heated/cooled cup holders, but don't have the other options you listed as well (except for homelink, I think it was a ~$300cdn option).

I did get the ambient lightning behind the front seats and I also got HK sound system. When I did the order in September, 2 BMW dealerships said they were absolutely unable to get the HK system, even for the M50i. However, 1 dealership said they were able to...and a 7 weeks later, I got my car with HK!

You are not missing much.

Ventilated cup holder is next to useless

Wifi hotspot expires after 3month unless you want to pay AT&T. You can just tether from your phone

There are plenty of USB port to charge. It is faster to charge than the wireless charging and you phone doesn't over heat

Gesture control is completely useless

homelink....okay, this is nice to have....but a clip on also works....

adaptive driving mode.....never use it since I had the car....

Even the touch screen is not that important to me...

Lucky me, I picked up my m50i last year. So I have all those features. But these little "features" were never my interest to the car. As long as it still offer the big V8TT, I am happy..

No refund.

Fair enough - but I paid for those "useless" items and I should have been refunded the cost if they were not going to deliver them to me.

I think it was limited to some October builds

My Dec 40i build has everything a 2021 had with the exception of the below:

Front Fog Lights
H/K Option
Rear Seat Fold Down from trunk
Wireless charger
Adaptive button

All other features are on it including:
Touchscreen
Homelink
Rear Seat LED
Kick to Open Tailgate
Key Card
Gesture Control
Wifi Hotspot

I didn't get a Exec pack so I wouldn't have got the heated/cooled cupholders anyway

Homelink WAY better/nicer/cleaner than a clip on. As for touchscreen, when you have a single button to control heated/cooled seats, touch screen is much more efficient than using the iDrive wheel. Let’s not forget the price point on this vehicle.
