Onboard Vehicle Tool Kit M50i

For the life of me I can't find the tool kit, I only have the tools to change / install the compact spare tire that came with my car. The manual is extremely vague by simply telling you it's located "under the cargo floor panel"

Does anyone with an M50i and spare tire have a tool kit that includes items like pliers, a screwdriver etc.?

I'll have to double check, but I though US based vehicles don't come with all those goodies. Just like we don't get First aid kits.

I believe you are correct on both. No tool kit or first aid kit in the US.

Is there an additional tool kit above and beyond what is needed to change the tire?

Nah, no additional toolkit or first aid kit for USA model G05/06/07 vehicles. If you option the spare, tools are included to swap out the flat.

My last BMW that had an additional toolkit and glovebox flashlight was my E39 540i M Sport touring and E53 X5 4.8is (in a soft wrap)

Think BMW stopped with F series.

Most people don’t get the tools necessary to changer a tire. It’s only those that opt for the spare tire kit (where available, not on the 45e as there’s batteries there and no place to store one), or those that come with summer only tires and non-run flat tires. BMW includes a warning triangle and first aid kits where they are required by law, but not anywhere else from what I’ve seen. Except for maybe changing a flat, BMW doesn’t expect you to do any maintenance on their vehicles, and if you do, it’s on you to provide what’s needed.

My Lexus used to have a small kit that had a nut driver and reversible shaft screw driver and pliers etc. The basic cheap stuff but handy in a pinch. Seems like a 100k vehicle could integrate these as well, pretty frustrating.

I think bmw expects you to call for roadside assistance. Yes, including some tools can be handy, but the owner's cost to add one is small, too, if he feels it is necessary.

Well considering when I was on the phone with the Master Technician after calling roadside assist I was asked to use the toolkit that included a 10mm nut driver to pull the battery terminal off and reset the car till I realized there was no toolkit.

I found these in the drivers side rear cubby where the first aid kit is. Maybe only M models? Compressor and tire sealant.

That is if you have RFT. If you do not have RFT you should have the spare tire kit providing you have 22" wheels if not then it was an option. Gone are the days of the E38, E39, E46 full roadside kit. Even the smaller NAR version was too costly for them to continue to include. Shame.

On the X5M, X6M, competition or not, you have the choice of either a spare tire or the mobility kit.
