Tech doc is incorrect in documentation regarding xLine models where DDC doesn't affect the EDC base suspension. xLine EDC suspension and M Sport with 2VF Adaptive M suspension share identical components - springs, shocks, passive roll stabilization bars (anti-roll bars) - the only difference between the two are the DDC to EDC damping rates.

It's not the only instance where the tech docs are incorrect - General Vehicle Electronics which cover headlights, where there are 3 types of headlight units available across all markets and USA standard full adaptive LEDs headlights do not have cornering lights.
Interesting how the doc could be so misleading.. Well, I'm happy to learn that DDC affect the EDC base suspension. But am a little underwhelmed that the adjustment must be ever so subtle I hardly felt much difference unless I change the experience setting to ADAPTIVE.

Sorry for deriving the discussion a little off tangent but hopefully it clears up some of the suspension set up confusions that folks like me had.

Thanks!
It is unfortunate that it's a subtle difference between DDC modes. You're not alone as some M Sport owners with 2VF Adaptive M also note a subtle differences between DDC modes in regards to suspension damping.

No worries, discussion like these are what makes Bimmerpost forums an enthusiast's forum and informative. Wish we had more discussions like these and I'm always available to answer any suspension and drivetrain questions.

As I mentioned previously, you can still have an electronic (dynamic) damper controlled suspension without the DDC ADAPTIVE driving mode.

Without ADAPTIVE driving mode, you don't get the benefits of active navigation route where the system can predictively prep the suspension for upcoming road sections.

Doubt that the majority of X5 consumer owners ever drive in any other DDC modes beyond COMFORT, ECO, or SPORT.

Unfortunately for Bimmer and forum enthusiasts, it's a drive mode that will be missed.

I would be more concerned and table flipping if BMW deleted 2VF Adaptive M suspension.

Adaptive button for the MY22 G05 sDrive40i. Note that both of these are sDrive40i models and not xDrive40i so perhaps the change is only on the xDrive?

Can anyone confirm if the MY22 M50i with DHP still has the adaptive mode button?

MY22 M50i's do not have the Adaptive button. At least this one doesn't.

I can’t tell if it has DHP. They don’t list it from what I can see.

ZDH is listed as Dynamic Handling Package. An itemized list of features would be listed.

There's no controls for DHP, it's always active above 5mph. Only way you can tell is look under the vehicle. Here's what a X5 M50i with DHP looks like from underneath the back - note the rear ARS - active roll stabilization unit - highlighted in green.

Whether or not it has DHP would not effect them putting the Adaptive mode button on there. It is gone from all M50is as far as I know.

I just wasn’t sure if the adaptive M professional that comes with DHP also adds the adaptive button back. That’s why I was trying to see if that listing had the option to confirm if that’s the case or not.

Reminder that ADAPTIVE is just a driving mode and has nothing to do with enabling the dynamic dampers which always active.

Scanned my dealers inventory and all of the MY22 45e have ADAPTIVE mode and lone 40i sans.

My 2022 Xdrive 40i m sport with air suspension has the Adaptive drive mode button. I haven't experimented with it just yet.

Interesting, there may be another determiner to whether the MY22 40is have the button. Hopefully others with air suspension will chime in.

Looks like sDrive40i, xDrive40i with air suspension/3rd row, and 45e have retained ADAPTIVE mode.

Until the next photo says otherwise, LOL.

I cannot understand why they dropped this driving mode. If it worked as advertised that is. I have a 21 M50 and use it all the time. Would be cool if I could look at the cluster and see what its doing. In other words, when driving in adaptive, am I in comfort mode or sport at a certain point in time. I know for most people that is probably useless information, but as a control freak I always like to know what is going on...

Lol I'm trying to follow what's going on just purely out of curiosity, but damn it's confusing. Can't imagine how frustrating it must be for those who are car shopping right now.

Here is something I got from another forum that I post here every so often:

"I asked BMWGenius to explain Adaptive Driving Mode in more detail, including whether or not it switches between comfort and sport depending on the situation. Here's what they said.
The Adaptive Driving Mode is a unique driving mode, separate from COMFORT, ECO PRO, and SPORT. While driving in Adaptive Driving Mode, the vehicle does not switch to COMFORT or SPORT mode automatically. However, characters of COMFORT or SPORT will be implemented, depending on the situation.

The vehicle is considering many factor to determine the optimal drive feel. Along with acceleration, steering, and speed, the vehicle is also factoring in driving conditions, braking, cornering speed, input from the xDrive system and Navigation data.

When the Navigation system has an active guidance, the Navigation data is used to anticipate curves, crossroads and type of street or road that you are driving on. For example, it can select the optimum transmission gear in advance, potentially enhancing efficiency.

I responded with this:
One more question: Some have suggested that Adaptive Driving Mode learns how you drive over time and adjusts itself based on that history. Is that true? Or does it just adapt based on the current situation without regard to history?

Here is what they (a different person) said:
In Adaptive mode, the following influences on the driving style are taken into account, among others:
• Longitudinal dynamics
• Current speed
• Pedal sensor position
• Cruise control (sensor data from ACC radar sensor) *If equipped
• Sport shift gate for automatic transmission
• Turn indicator
• Steering wheel movements
• Navigation data

"ADAPTIVE" reacts to the current driving style. The affected control units can change their parameters on the basis of the detected driving style. This system will not use previous driving tendencies to change settings for the current trip.""

Great information TurtleBoy, since I drive almost 100% in this mode, the more information I have on its operation the better!

Just picked up my '22 M50i with DHP via PDC in Greenville on Thursday, can confirm no Adaptive drive mode on it. I went to press it on my drive home, and was confused when I couldn't find it!

To further muddy the waters on whether M50i may have Adaptive mode: If you add DHP in the online builder, an Adaptive mode button is added to the interior preview. If you have no DHP, it's just blank.

Well that’s a bummer. I’m still in “order received” for the past few weeks. I wonder what else they are going to remove by the time it goes into production some day. My hope is nothing!
