After months of combing over this forum and trying to decide of the X5 is for us, we finally settled on the 45e and found an open allocation at a dealer 3 hours from us. This will be replacing my wife's X1 and it will be quite the upgrade!
We originally were going to find a used X5 in the ~65k range, but quickly found out that used prices are about the same as new. So then we started looking for new cars and very quickly found that...there were none, at least to our liking. And if we did we'd be paying close to MSRP anyway, so why not just order what we want? So here we are - we were very strategic in picking only the options that we were dead set on, trying to resist BMW's temptations of putting certain features in packages. We chose to stick with the standard 20" rims for comfort but also for the all-seasons. We chose Vernasca because of the durability and resisted some of the very tempting seating options that add up really fast (hence only multi-contour) and decided to give the Driving Assistance Plus option a chance despite being horrible and basically unusable in my X3M (my opinion of course). Anyway, this is our first ever car build and we are excited to track the progress. The car is not yet scheduled for production but should hopefully be in the next few days. |

That's a really savvy, "economical" build -- you have all of the right options (well, of those that BMW makes available these days ).
No chance of swaying you to get the Aluminum Tetragon trim, especially since it's only available on the M-Sport? |

This is almost my exact build! I went with tetragon trim and added the trailer hitch since aftermarket is more expensive. I pick up my 45e this week!!!

Thank you - Tetragon is ok but like the dark mesh better!

Finally went to "Production Scheduled" status. Called the Genius hotline and unfortunately they don't have a production date yet. Hopefully soon!

Things are moving quickly - today it switched to "Production Begins" and I have a VIN! I believe things will be moving quickly from here.

Still stuck on "Production Begins", I have a feeling it's going to jump several steps one day. One odd note - i punched my VIN into the MyBMW app and it shows a fuel level (that goes down daily) and an 8,800 mileage. Probably a software glitch, but a bit weird.

I got production Begins on 9/17(week 40 build according to geniuses) and stuck for around 2 weeks. Suddenly 9/30 it jumps to entering assembly line and next day awaiting carrier, I was told the car will be at dealer next Tuesday so yes, I guess it depends on when the status was triggered but once it's in the assembly line it's super fast. Cannot wait to get my hands on the car!
