Its an late April 2021 build, and came with the M Sport package (including M Sport exhaust), Full shadow-line external trim, Carbon Fibre interior trim, and 22" 742M wheels.

Its a pity you cant order the carbon fibre internal trim anymore, another casualty of 2022 builds.....

Watch out for Heads-up display, I also heard that has now become an "option" for new order/builds.

Heads-up display is part of the Premium or Executive package options, which I plan to get. Wasn't that an option when you got your X5 in April 2021?

You really must see Coffee vs Cognac in person; but if your gut (initial build) says Cognac, go for it. They are BOTH fantastic colors and a personal preference. Though, I agree with an above comment that a lighter interior contrasts better with a darker exterior; so on extremes White goes with Coffee well; and Black with Cognac better (or yes Black w/Ivory if you are a clean freak.

I'm a big fan of Cognac; it's on my build too! I had to look at several in person because many online pics show an orange hue that is not very pronounced in person. Artic w/ Cognac will look very good and contrasts better than Artic w/Coffee (those shades are too similar) IMO.
Looks like you are ready to go. Pull the trigger and lock an allocation all ready!

The trim option available now is the following. there is no carbon black. so for Cognac, I was thinking of going with Alumiuim Tetragon as Brown Metallic Ash Grain wood is stated as glossy and fingerprint catcher per the local Sales Advisor.

Then Anthracite Brown does not go with the Cognac, again per the Sales Advisor

Coffee is not too dark, you need to see it in person. Remember what is dark for others may be neutral or light for you. Sharing a couple of pictures in different lighting conditions.

LOVE THE glass controls, it goes with your color combo well.

This is probably one of the hardest things to do in photography. It’s very difficult to show how these combos look in real life. A small change in light/white balance/your monitor will result a completely different outcome. Plus everyone has different views/likes. You should check it out in person. I personally would not base on what I see on screen to decide. Attached is a picture of the matte wood. I don’t have a picture of interior. I will try to take one for you. 10101X5 thank you for posting your trim photo - looks really nice. I guess most trims will go with Cognac (at least from the photos I seen so far)

My X5 had Arctic/Cognac combo. Loved it! I had a loaner with the Coffee interior and that was nice too, more subtle, less contrast than the Cognac. Both are classy and versatile with any trim. It's just a preference thing.

My first preference was Carbon black metallic, but keeping black color cleaned is a concern

Haven't seen it in person and as others have said….you really have to see the color in person as a lot of colors don't photograph well. I like the darker grays, though.

Most old people drive light brown interiors (not dark brown). I think it's the other way around, old folks like Cognac. Coffee is more modern (and less common).

Tartufo is better than Cognac.

There is a reason white with cognac is one of the best combos there is for BMW. It pops.

You don't see Ferraris with a dark brown interior. It's the camel/cognac/tan that pops.

Coffee is not dark. The configurator color and pictures don't show it off and you have to see it in person. It's darker than Cognac if that's what you mean.

Let's share pics with the op and let him decide.

But he should see it in person. I saw all 3 browns (Tartufo, Cognac and Coffee) in person before deciding.

Even commercials used Coffee. Watch these to get some idea:
